I have been a BattleTech/ Mechwarrior fan since the 80's (yes, when it was a table top RPG) and I love this game. If you're a Battletech fan then you will love this game too. I promise. The story is well written and the game play is pretty intuitive. The game includes various "snippets" of Inner Sphere lore and has a lot of information to add depth to the story. There are quite a few "mechs" to accumulate and all of them have multiple ways to outfit their armament to shred enemy mechs of all sizes. The game progresses pretty quickly and the challenge can be changed from fast and easy to slow and begrudgingly difficult depending on how much "realism" you want from your game. You can make the game easier to the point that you will never (almost never) have a MechWarrior killed in combat or have a mech completely destroyed or you can set the difficulty on hard and expect to hire mechwarriors and buy new mech salvage continuously to replenish your quickly depleting reserves of both. There are numerous terrains and "biomes" in which to wage war in and some biomes can have environmental effects on your mech from hindering and aiding heat dissipation to affecting movement speed and stability. The graphics are really well done and add to the game play substantially. All in all, I gave this game a 5-star rating because it's the best Battletech/ Mechwarrior game I've played ( I've not played any of the 5+ Mechwarrior games for the PC, so there's a bit of bias here) and I recommend it to anyone looking for a giant robot battle strategy game. It's fun, entertaining, definitely instills some nostalgia of the table top miniatures game, and is a great game to start learning about the Battletech/Mechwarrior universe. Now, when can we expect Battletech: Clan Invasion to release? Sign me up!
