The variety of units between the playable races in the campaign adds far more strategy and variety than the base game campaigns. Still lacks the base building of its predecessor, but offers some real variant options even in the same missions. Worth a go, defiinitely preferable to the base game in my view.
In a sprawling cyberpunk future city your band of heroes (well, agents) causes madness and mayhem in pursuit of the Greater Good, which is mostly you being in charge, but you get the idea. A spiritual and technical successor to Syndicate with more of an open world, side quest based play, this is a remarkable achievement that uses secure zones to contain the otherwise open world aspects of exploration (and to stop you accidentally starting a firefight with a literal army). Well executed and with lots of tactical options, this is well worth a play.
With none of the depth of intrigue or rawness of the first offering, this is a straight up military shootfest. The "plot" is thin and doesn't have the depth of the first, the "plot twist" comes as no surprise at all and from an initial offering where weaponry was very limited, you feel pretty inundated with choices early on. Distinctly mediocre.
In one of the first divergences, you can play the Campaign from two sides. Action is intense with limited hints on making progress but with tactical exploration you can find easier ways to meet objectives or take an all-out assault approach. The balance of tactics and armies makes this a really rich experience.
Lost Horizon is one of my favourite P'n'C titles and a regular replay choice. This was sadly not all I hoped for. Paddock is older and still tied up with the Army but has lost a lot of his swagger and humour that made him appealing. A lot of the puzzles are rather run-on-rails and walking back and forth in the harbour asking the same question to unlock dialogue options was a particular lowpoint. The callback to the seemingly out of place prelude was interesting, but the conclusion was rather flat and doesn't actually feel like it resolved the issue. Worth playing, but prepare for disappointment in the rushed feeling of the end.
