people coming from the previous installment (homm3) really don't like this one. I can understand that because Homm3 is a masterpiece and homm4 is trying to do something a little different. I personally love both and i think this one is overhated. The gameplay takes some interesting departures from homm3 that I think are interesting and unique. Overall, play both homm3 and homm4 but know that homm4 is a different and unique iteration on the same theme as homm3 but it is not a straight sequel.
the launch was less than stellar but it's now a fully formed game that runs without issue. The gameplay loop doesn't get stale because you have the variety of gameplay styles. I wholeheartedly recommend this game to anyone who likes RPG's.
