Game still holds up 20 years later

I just played this through again, having done so back in 2002 just after it came out. The original disc still works on Windows 7, and loads straight up without any fiddling. The graphics are obviously not at modern day standards, and for some reason the cutscene sound is full volume even if the audio settings are below that, but it allows resolutions up to 1920x1080 and looks surprisingly good. But the important thing is the gameplay. Here it is a third-person shooter and puzzle game. Four characters, each with unique abilities that mean you need to get certain people to certain places to progress. Although enjoyable, if you don't know who you need in a given place (and you won't) you will explore with one character, then have to switch to bring another to the same place. And some levels are big. It can be a little frustrating to have to drag characters from halfway across the map. For this reason I give it only four stars rather than five. There is a way to get other characters to follow you, but pathfinding is not perfect and you often end up leaving your colleagues behind. The ability to call people to your location and they get their of their own accord would have been helpful to make some sections less boring. But overall I thoroughly enjoyed my second trip through this game, and highly recommend it.
