Over the last 40 years, I've played literally thousands of games. In all that time there are a few that really stick out. I have a library of about 15,000 games and any time anyone asks me what my favorite game is, I tell them Cyberpunk 2077 and its not really even close. Its almost like the GTA games for mature adults with the ability to process complex emotions and deal with very mature themes. Well that and some of the coolest weapons and cyberware in the history of gaming. The first time you launch from your bike going 100 and land on a thug with Mantis claws through his chest you will be hooked on the combat. As soon as you go to a funeral, you'll be hooked on the characters. As soon as you rescue one cyberpsycho you'll wanna catch em all. This game is just so much content and care in such a tight package. It was a mess a launch but I don't even think that should be mentioned any more. Its been fixed for years and its now the greatest game I've ever played. If you like sci-fi movies and open world games this is a no-brainer.
The game had its well documented problems to start but I played through it right after release on my old i7-7700k and GTX 1070. I managed to play through the whole game and really loved it. The characters are some of the best ever created and even with my old rig the graphics were impressive. There were a lot of problems...but now flash forward and I have a new rig with a 5800X3D and a 3080 ti and now this game is really amazing. Most of the complaints I had were solved and after coming abck to this game 3 years later its like playing a whole new game. The skills are completely redone and combat feels completely different. Plus theres actually car combat beyond sticking your head out as a passenger and shooting a few preset enemies during just a few mission. If this game had been released in this curent 2.1 state it would rival any game out for Game of the Year. I'm really enjoying jumping back into Night City and seeing all the new features in action. I can already tell you its a whole new game. I'm really glad I saved most of the side stuff until I came back to it because at least half of the game is new to me. I urge anyone who enjoys open world games to give this one a try.
