Honest Incubation Review

I played this as a kid and me and my friend enjoyed it alot, wltough we didnt get too far into the campaign. We had great fun when he got the expansion and we played hotseat multiplayer. In the last couple of years I started playing it and enjoyed at first alot. I love turned based tactics ala X-Com or Jagged Alliance and on the surface the game fits the bill. However this game becomes more of a puzzle game where the level designers carefully made the level beatible but only by a very specific formula. Add in RNG like shots can miss and weapon overheating. Savescumming is a must, and its not recommended to loose a soldier as leveleling them becomes crucial. At first this is interesting but it gets eventually very tiresome. The vanilla campaign is still good and can be finish by mere mortals. The expansion however is made for masochiststhat want a real challenge, especsially the the early levels are brutal. I would rate this game a 3 and a half but GOG doesnt allow it so its 3. Its descent but has flaws. I enjoy the Aliens with a dash of 40K vibe. However you need to yet again get a fan made patches to get the game running. I recommend the Win10 Patch (There is a way with nglide to get 3dFX but I wasnt able to get it too work) or better yet get the fan made 25th Anniversary mod that fixes bugs and makes some nice gameplay changes. GOG needs to pay these nerds some money and integrate the fixes directly. They are truly the heroes we need but not deserve. I would recommend this for X-Com fans with caution. Also finish the vanilla campaign first before even thinking of attempting the Wilderness missions. This would be a great canditate for a high end remake but Blue Byte is too busy making Settlers mobile games or something. We cant have nice things it seems.

KING OF THE MONSTERS

Bad port, good game

This game is a really bad port. I have read for some it runs to slow, for me it ran way to fast. Also no controller support and the keyboard setup is horrible and unchangeable. Play it on Mame instead.
