Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2020

I just finished the game and I loved it, but it was a struggle to complete at times due to the technical issues, which are so widespread that there's no way it can receive a 5 star rating in its current state. It certainly plays like a game that came out during a crippling pandemic. By now you've probably seen a lot of the bugs on social media, and while I've enjoyed sharing some of the funnier ones I've encountered, they really prevent you from being fully immersed in this world. For a game that follows The Witcher 3, it's also narratively limited in comparison. But that's OKAY. It doesn't need to be that complex. It has just enough choices to keep you watchful of what you say and do, and that's all I really needed in what is essentially, to me, an open world Deus Ex. If the technical issues were all corrected I'd be just fine with it. Probably. Yes, it could have been more. Yes, there's a laundry list of changes I'd make if I could. Yes, Keanu still can't act. But for 2020, a year that has slowed many companies down to a crawl, it'll do. Just please, keep those patches coming.

Diablo + Hellfire

The OG of action RPGs

A classic masterpiece. The dark atmosphere, the sound effects, the incredible soundtrack, the gritty graphical style, the unique personalities of NPCs, the BUTCHER, the core gameplay loop--it's all still great. If you allow yourself to be fully absorbed in this game, and ignore the fact that Diablo 2 improved upon it in some (but not all) ways, it'll grab you.

The Hugo Trilogy

I grew up playing these games...

They're...not very good. Just being straight up with you. They're archaic, brutal adventure games with text input, lacking the polish of similar early Sierra games. Do they hold a special place in my heart? Hell yes. When I was a kid I was enamored with Hugo because I didn't have a computer at the time. These kinds of games were totally foreign to me, and exciting, and the only way I could play them was going to my neighbor's house across the street. Would I recommend them to someone now? Of course not! Come on, people. If you're going to recommend an old school text-based adventure game, recommend Space Quest, Police Quest, Kings Quest, Quest For Glory, Leisure Suit Larry, etc. instead. Don't let the nostalgia blind you into thinking these are great games.

Brilliant cyberpunk horror

I really don't understand the low ratings. Were these people expecting a shooter? This is not only one of the best cyberpunk games I've played in years, but also one of the better horror games as well. The game oozes atmosphere and Rutger Hauer voicing the main character is such a cool touch that any Blade Runner fan will appreciate. The story is also really interesting right from the start, and the ending is something you're not going to see coming. Great graphics, great sound design. It's a dark and immersive trip into one hell of a sci-fi nightmare. Horror/cyberpunk fans definitely shouldn't miss it!

Damn Near Perfect

Don't listen to the negative reviews. People love to bash this game for being short, or lacking replay value, or not being what they expected, what have you. It is a short game, indeed, but the experience you'll take from it is unforgettable, told in the most expert way, with an ending so perfect it made my spine tingle and eyes tear up. The immersion in this game is incredible. There is no hand-holding throughout, no exposition-heavy cinematics crammed down your throat -- you learn the story as you explore, and the mansion is so packed with detail you'll want to explore every bit of it to understand exactly what's going on, and who these characters are. It truly is a brilliant experience, and deserves all the praise from critics it has received, and none of the negativity from users. If this isn't your cup o' tea, then move on. Don't ruin the game for others who might appreciate all the many things it has to offer.
