Just using simple mathematics i could have told you this game would be bad before you even released it. 2mph runespeed and 1mile long maps with no waypoints = guaranteed bad time I understand this game is old but where does the stupid come from? I wasnt dumb 20 years ago just because it was 20 years ago. Puzzles in games are not valuable. They never were. It just took us a while to realize it. Mobile gaming has taught us the puzzle games are less than worthless, There are thousands of puzzle games uploaded to google play each day. Puzzles are what you make when you dont have a video game and need to force the player to stick around longer
This is a masterpiece! The RAT enemies are like a darker, scarier, more violent version than the enemies in vermintide. This game has great map design. the levels have rivers in them that you can fall in and get carried back to different parts of the level. Its simply genius. Within the first 5 minutes i got hit by a fireball and faceplanted to the floor in my beutiful dress as the camera switched to third person to show me my dead body. It was so epic. Serious nightmare creature vibes from that! However i REALLY wish gog gave players the option to download the game RETAIL without all of gogs adjustments, i love gog more than steam nowadays but I dont like how gog assumes people want to play ancient games in fullscreen, they look like trash that way, they just arent detailed enough to be played in fullscreen they lose their charm. Even with a proper FOV (widescreen fixes) i still believe people are doing these old games dirty by playing them in fullscreen. The moment i put them into windowed mode they come alive. Any old game you play in a window is now using windows default correct color profile and 32bit colors so a lot of these old games just look way more clear and correct in windowed mode. Check out my youtube channel randalmcdaniel i play all sorts of old games in windowed mode Fullscreen WITH black bars is also bad because it STILL stretches the image. Thats why old games never look crisp or HD in fullscreen mode with black bars. You can screenshot compare if you dont believe me. 1280x960 in fullscreen is a 12% larger game than 1280x960 in a window.. Why? I HAVE NO CLUE. Try it if you dont believe me
This game is actually a masterpiece, it reminded me of project eden with better combat, but if you go into it blind you will be ripping your hair out! You need to know this is a shooter/puzzle hybrid DONT be fooled by the first two levels, those first two levels actually END like traditional shooter game levels do! But after that the levels dont exactly end anymore (well they do, but the game becomes long format like a puzzle game where you will spend a lot of time in a mansion, or a lot of time in a moving train). Nothings worse than being like "ok let me beat this third in five minutes level real quick" and it actually takes 4 hours lol. I simply did not know. But now you know! So you wont have any bad times! You can quicksave in this game thankfully Play on easy. Otherwise you will need to make 700 quicksaves and its horrible. I seriously wonder if med/hard are even possible. ROADBLOCKS The first roadblock i hit was when the game told me to avoid enemy detection for the first time, you need to go into third person mode, and hide behind the rock to the right. It will fail like 5 times dont worry. They just detect you as they are walking by. Keep trying. Then when they walk past just go prone and hug the left wall all the way until you see prisoners waiting to enter the back of a truck. Enter the back of that truck! Turrets hanging from ceilings can be destroyed! Turrets disable if you hit the red alarm buttons! If a red alarm button is glowing red, that means the turret is ON, you want them to not blink red at all. Theres a ladder in the mansion where you seemingly die from nothing while climbing down it, this is the gas part, the valve to turn off this gas is on the roof of the mansion.. On top of a giant singular gas tank thing which has a ladder. But there was two helicopters killing me constantly. I had to make like 70 savegames to get the valve shut off before the helicopter could kill me. it was brutal. Final boss just takes many hits to kill
classic rpg with armor sets, different weapons, skills, magic powers, im still early in the game but its 60fps like butter, and beautiful in some places. Best buck i spent in a while! Wish you could JUMP in this game however, cant crouch either :( cmon man
How could anyone dislike this? I had no idea SR3-remastered was THIS high quality, and its so smooth! I am using DXVK like the wiki suggested. It really butters out the performance! Using only a gtx1080 i couldnt get the game to stutter if i tried. Its so smooth! It seriously looks like resident evil 7 game engine, but even better because you can actually disable the TAA blur in this game. Not even joking this might be the best graphics to performance ratio game i have ever played for an open world. and you can actually see cars and boats now, from seemingly infinite range. Its sweet. The game can totally handle more enemies and cars and stuff on screen than sr2 could And this version is more stable than the steam version 100%. I own both and i am now playing the gog version only because im allowed to turn OFF fog in the gog version. If i turn it off in the steam version i get egregious black boxes that make my game almost unplayable. I cannot reproduce this bug on the GOG version. Its hard to ignore how many things are instantly better about this game (coming from a 140+hr sr2 playthrough with gentleman of the row) -Combat is better plain and simple, and retains that smooth physics-ey feel. The crosshair in this game is smaller and the combat is TIGHT. The weapons are nice and accurate. I can get clean headshots very satisfying gun sounds. This feels exactly like SR2 but just with like RE-Engine tier of graphics, nothing is worse about this than SR2 that ive found yet. Only improvements I like how the controls are good now, they honestly were not in SR2.
I seriously cant get over how good this game is, im not even joking. This game runs circles around anything in the half life universe, and its not even on steam! P.S. I always use dxwrapper to convert all these old dx7 or dx8 games to dx9 first, it always works, in fact ive done it with hundreds of old games and never found one that DOESNT work with dxwrapper. and yes it even works if the game uses nglide. Dxwrapper can force games into a window and other cool stuff like that because you can open the dxwrapper.ini file and look at all the different settings.. (first gooogle dxwrapper, read the install instructions and click link to download it from the releases page, not the master file zip one). Its so easy to use you just grab the single file D3D8.DLL from the stub folder. Then go back to the main folder and grab just the two other files, dxwrapper.dll and dxwrapper.ini files which are always needed regardless of whichever single stub you choose. if its a dx7 game then enable the setting in the ini called dx7to9, and if its a dx8 game use the setting called dx8to9. You simply change the 0 to a 1 and save then if your even crazier you can rename the executable to Factorio.exe and enjoy using nvidia freestyle with it to enable SSAO ambient occlusion (alt+f3 to bring up menu in game). Or just use reshade
