Her Story

a good one with interesting topic

first time I played the game I thought it was boring after a while and confusing... I think, I concluded with a clip that the case was solved... but I thought I'd never play it ever again... that's how disappointed I was... meanwhile, I watched videos on youtube that deal with the same topic (I had no clue "Her Story" touched on that a lot.) Now, I'm glad that I played it again, as I can appreciate the game for what it is... a rather interesting attempt at touching on that special topic. so... for spoilers, in a way... go to youtube and /watch?v=A0kLjsY4JlU that's where I started on that journey

Coffee Talk Demo

maybe "not Romeo/Juliet"-stories r great

...so I don't want to be harsh on it facts are: a hint of a "romeo and juliet"-like story... or "west side story" (I really wouldn't go there, but here it is) some management stuff, perhaps, when having to make drinks and food for all the visitors? the milk art was the most interesting part for me, although you can do whatever you want, his comment will be the same (for now?)... and a writer overcoming her writer's block my character didn't say a word, but must have said something... so I guess that was "dialogue options" still being hidden... "Branching storylines, where the branches are determined not by the dialogue options you choose, but from how you serve your café customers" is the most intruiging part of their game description... for I don't know how that is going to work.

GreedFall

mayybe 3* - what I remember of this game

it's been really a long time now... I remember that there was a boss fight before leaving the character's home country... and it was frustrating for me, but I got it done... and the only joy I felt was that I could finally play the game again... over the course of the game I got better at these, but not necessarily good.. or maybe I ended up being all right at them but still didn't enjoy them? Once we arrived in port at the new land... I just couldn't decline that stupid drink no matter how much I wanted to... I was reluctantly going along with it as a "don't anger the natives" thing... but still, I would have preferred to get out of that situation without drinking it.. there ought to have been some diplomatic way... or a diplomatic way to calm them again after declining it, at least... it couldn't be done.... I felt annoyed. Then I remember that it was too much hopping from one area to another, especially at a later time... and yes, all the nations look the same. During the story I was going "crazy" about being unable to do something about a certain situation and I saw the end coming and I hated it long before it became evident that I was right... thus I hated what had to be done not just because it had to be done... but because there wasn't even a futile route to try and prevent it or an alternative ending if you could... and then I never touched this game again... the story was good... but it couldn't keep its drive "going"... and.. well, for some things there was a lack of choice...

Subject 13

puzzles: all right --- story: low impact

the controls are not the best, one time I wanted to open lids, but couldn't, so I looked it up to see... yes, I need to open the lids... I was lucky to finally get a ladder where I wanted to place it... for the Mayan puzzle, I would have liked to see the numbers on the handle a bit better, but it worked out... and thank you for letting the final puzzle stay the same mine sweeper game for each trial... I only wished I could have marked the "bombs"... several puzzles were easy and straightforward... others were not so clear on how to get it done... and sometimes I had no clue what I should do next... but I'm not great at puzzles... I didn't like the story... or maybe it was the method for telling it? From what I gathered, what's going on on this island is (way) more than just an experiment gone wrong. But the player can't do anything about it. I hated that the most when I had reached the end. I didn't have a choice for anything (probably too much to expect from a puzzle game after playing RPGs; just ride the train and enjoy the environment, I guess). If I were to think about the ending, there would be way more questions than answers.

Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories Demo

interesting, but no instant buy for me

The chinese/japanese characters seemed to make the game unplayable for me. Thankfully, when I started a new game, I could select English and got English subtitles and main manu from then on. The start is very slow. For some reason you hear "Jingle Bells" and get to see snow fall, but it ends up being summer in the game... I don't know whether your choices in this intro have some kind of influence on the game, or whether it is just supposed to be thought provoking...? There was no in game explanation for character controls. The game looks like it's meant to be played with a gamepad. e.g. the instruction will be to press A when it is spacebar for your keyboard move with WASD interact with E, select something with E (or possibly spacebar instead) to get back use Q you run/walk faster with (left) shift you crouch with Ctrl and have to keep holding it, unless you also use WASD until the character crawls, then he or she will stay down even if you let go of CTRL (I think it was necessary to press CTRL to get up again) using items or stopping to use them seemed impractical, since I had to press ESC (I think) and go into the inventory to do so from the demo, I get the impression that somehow your morality status is going to matter, I just wouldn't know what influence that is going to have later on in the game I found it immersion breaking that the demo (don't know about the full version) would show it's logo before starting the scene that got triggered The conversation can be skipped by klicking E, or spacebar, or whatever it was... I was allowed to try some clothes on in a shop, but I couldn't buy them... I could steal them, theoretically (I reloaded)... I don't know, was it just too expensive for my character to buy it? to save, you have to get to a save point I could only quit the game via accessing such a save point all in all, I still liked the game... but I can't bring myself to buy it right away..

Spiritfarer Demo

cute, peaceful

it looks like a cute and peaceful game this short demo seemed relaxing as well I only used my keyboard... E for interaction, spacebar for jumping, R for cooking and 1 and 2 to switch tabs.. I had no problem running the game. I didn't want to give it any amount of stars for now... I'd have to play the full version to decide on how many I'd want to give the game... but, I guess, it does look promising.

Memoria

interesting

Sadja's story is, to me, the one you get, whereas Geron's story just happens to be there, too. It might have been a third character's story. You may, or may not get stuck a few times. The pacing was good. So the story remained interesting enough to keep me going, even if I used a walkthrough at times. I did not feel in control of either the princess's fate, nor Geron's. I wouldn't say they "interact" with each other. The one who bridges about 500 years isn't Geron, but that's all right. Background/Grafics were really nice. The music didn't draw my attention at any point, so it works well. The ending was very short, but all right.
