I don't write reviews on games, however I felt the need to mention some general thoughts on the current state of Gwent coming from an experienced player who has invested hundreds of dollars and hours over multiple accounts the past year without any regrets. I also wanted to wait until i played a couple hundred games of new Gwent to give a fair review. Beta Gwent was compelling, addictive, deep, and especially rewarding. Some of the things that made it such a great game were completely removed in official launch. Spies, three rows, complex deck building, mulligans, everything worked together beautifully for an incredibly fun experience. Yes, there were some cards that needed revised and balanced, but the game did not need an complete overhaul to what is now. Gwent appealed to both hardcore players and new players alike because of the complex thought processes involved in each turn. This is what is missing from the current Gwent we have now. It's sad to say, but this game is no longer fun. I don't care about all of the new aesthetics, it was the fundamental layout of the game that made it deep. It was more interesting to play six months of beta Gwent with no updates than play three weeks of new Gwent. As someone who loves everything Witcher and everything Gwent this is incredibly disappointing and sad.
