Both games are great, Hexen (the sequel to Heretic, (and also the improved upon version(s) with its multiple dlcs and a sequel, plus quality of life and other improvements added to the formula, is arguably the better series of games as they have a bit slower pace and are almost action rpgish in a way. Whereas Heretic is Literally Doom with Wands, Swords, and Magic lol (instead of Demons its.....well, there are still some Demons (or Devils...who knows which they are?), but on top of that there is alot of Undead like Skeletons and DeathKnight looking ones, Demonic Bats, etc., and these Death Knight looking things in Heretic; in Hexen they go deeper into fantasy tropes and have like Orcs and all that stuff too...., which is exactly why i still play it and its actually my favorite though both are excellent. Hexen, especially with its Dlc's and Mods, and its sequels (and ofc for me every Doom Game and a ton of mods too just about...) knock many hours off of my week. Even Doom the Rpg on Mobile and Doom the Roguelike (not official, but awesome) on PC as well. And Heretic is literally like Doom 1 + 2 but as a wizard fighting undead, demon bats, and all other sorts of nasties (including a sh*t ton of these 99% clothing free Evil muscle bound Mutant Conan's for some reason). The games and Dlcs are all great, as are most of the mods for any in this or the Doom series ( Heretic/Hexen just basically being fantasy versions of Doom rather than the Sci-Fi meets Hell (Literally) of the normal Doom Series, also without the pure Demonic (and Hellish) influence, though elements of thaty are there, theyre mixed with the undead, other fantasy tropes (especially Hexen and beyond), ......and ofc whatever the cloned armies of Mutant/Demon Worshipper Conan's are actually supposed to be...but it doesnt get much better than games like these, the best modern shooters cant compare to the level design and flow of Doom Imho generally, thats why i still play them all and these games as well.
Great game, an improvement over Enemy Unkown and Enemy Within in most ways, especially with the Big dlc pack, War of the Chosen, this is a massive game with a ton of improvements and alot of added weaponry, abilities, units, etc. Can't reccomend it enough, awesome game if you like X-com. especially. The aliens won in the first game and have taken over earth. They have half human/half alien hybrids now on top of new aliens themselves. You are part of the resistance, fighting to ovefthrow the alien invaders from earth.
Im only a few hours in but so far it's been a surprisngly fun rpg. It has combat similar to a tactical rpg like the King's Bounty games kind of, with its own unique take on it (still Hex and Turn-Based though). But outside of combat it's also a full fledged rpg in its own right, not just a tactical rpg. Definitely worth the price all day and then some (pretty sure i got it for only a couple bucks or so) and would highly recomend to any RPG fan.
Awesome action?platformer swith metroidvania elements from what ive played so far. Thde comat feels fluid and resposived, exactly what youd expect in a game like this. Plays like dead cells kind of, but without all the cool weapons. In fact, in the 20-30 minugtes i played there wasnt a single upgrade, though it resembles SotN quite a bit....Fun game, but should have some sort of progression....
