Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers

One of the All Time Classics

Gabriel Knight is one of those series I am *always* recommending that people play. I am a classic PC games collector, so I actually have more than one version of this already. I am waiting to hear back from the team, but I believe this is the DOS version. The Windows version was actually always included with it, but cannot be run on anything higher than Win98. Virtual PC runs it like a champ, however. The differences are subtle. The DOS version has a different credits intro (one I actually like better) but some of the cutscenes have been shortened or removed. The graphics on the Windows version are a bit better as well. Still, whichever version this is, it is a WONDERFUL game. See the other reviews for a synopsis. Even Tim Curry has been quoted as saying that the Gabriel Knight series was always one of his favorite projects. Rumor has it he's even willing to return if GK4 ever gets actually made. It was in development and plotted out, but cancelled by Sierra due to the "death" of adventure gaming. You can find hints as to what GK4 was supposed to be about if you check SIDNEY in GK3, or look in the bookcase at the castle in this game. ;) The book with the "supernatural phenomenon" that does not appear in the other two is the correct one. A great Easter egg. :) Thank you, GoG, for bringing a classic to a new generation!
