Baldur's Gate 3

Special: story, multi player lan, replay

This is a special game. I've played though it a few times since it came out. At first I was skeptical. I liked divinity a lot, but it fizzled at the end for me, and I often prefer an open world. Typical games I love (and actually play): Witcher 2/3, cyberpunk, rd2, skyrim and now BG3. My favorite games tend to be narrative driven open world types of RPGs Most other games I can't get into and it's not for lack of trying. I'm going to attempt to explain why I think this game is special. Why would I add this game to such a short list of amazing games. First, the story and character are great. Second, the world is interesting even if it's not "fully open", but it approximates it reasonably well. Third, it has the features in games from the 90's and 2000's that I dearly miss: Multiplayer lan mode, flexible lobbies, or single player large campaign; its very flexible in how you can consume the experience. I can play with my family- namely my daughter. I don't have to go online and deal with people that are competitive and what to fight me, or if I do I can choose with who. There are no upsells. I bought this game twice so i can play with my daughter, and I never hear from anyone again. That is just perfect. It also works amazing on Linux, which is my platform of choice. I don't remember a game performing this well while looking so good. I just get to enjoy the game in the same way Id enjoy a good book, alone or with a friend, but with out further intervention from a mega corporation. Finally you aren't just buying a "game"; it's a story with incredible replay value. You can take a difference character with different goals and it becomes completely different e.g. outcomes, story, experience, yet it still maintains strong narrative heritage. The sound track is also wonderful I think this game is worth your time in money. Please consider giving it 10 hours or so to get hooked, especially if you don't play this kind of game a lot or play it with a friend.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

Incredibly fun

Great in the car. I have this on my computer and ipad. Not sure why it doesn't get talked about more. I'm obsessed with Gwent. I bought the real cards too so there.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

Fantastic and seamless integration

"Phantom Liberty" builds impressively on the foundations of the base game by introducing a captivating spy thriller element. As someone initially unfamiliar with the cyberpunk genre, I found the learning curve steep but rewarding. Understanding the underlying themes of cyberpunk—previously introduced in the base game—can significantly enhance the gameplay experience. Unlike typical fantasy games where background knowledge is often pre-established, entering the cyberpunk world with some context can be beneficial. As the game series has evolved, it feels as though I've experienced three distinct games, each with its unique appeal. I was already aware of "Blade Runner," but the base game and this expansion deepened my appreciation for the roles of street kid, corpo, and nomad. Since its release, I've found the game to be consistently engaging, although it initially needed some refinement. "Phantom Liberty" seems to be a high point of the series, especially with the improvements introduced in version 2.1. "Phantom Liberty" infuses a spy thriller twist into the established cyberpunk setting, offering a fresh yet coherent addition to the narrative. I've recently started playing it, and it includes all the elements I loved in the base game and "The Witcher" series—stellar acting, a compelling story, and profound emotional depth. The release of version 2.1 was timely, and it satisfies all the criteria of a great game. I now regard it as equal to "The Witcher 3," a game that has captivated me since its release. This expansion, along with one other title, represents one of the few games that have kept my attention. The gameplay in "Phantom Liberty" is flawless, the world is deeply immersive, and the story is heartfelt. The driving mechanics are particularly enjoyable. I only wish the game didn't have to end. To the team. you guys did a great job. I always felt that way though you are the best game studio IMO.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition

I love this game

to. a degree that may not be healthy Let me explain. One day i was in game stop. I don't play a ton of games. I 'm busy i work at a bit software firm, and i usually get a bit board if I'm honest. I was in game stop this was maybe 2017 and some kid came up to me and asked if i needed some help. I said man you know i like skyrim, dragon age you have any games like that. He looked at me and he said i have just what you need. Handed me witcher 3. I never had heard of Witcher (was in college then starting career when the other two came out). At first i put the game in I remember White Orchard. It took me a bit it takes maybe few hours i think to get into it. Then i went to Novigrad, OMG. Let me just say since then i've read the books and this was basically the only game i've played. I finally just started wither 2 though which is also quite good. I honestly don't know what to tell you here. I've played though this game three times, but to me ti's not a game. I'm almost embarrassed to say it but at this point I'm so invested in these characters they seem real to me. The game took some great books and made them even better. I love all the characters even a lot of the "antagonists". Ok so i thought the main game was good then i played the dlc, it was better. As far as Im concerned they should have a team of people always working on this game and adding content. i would pay for the story to continue. Ok back to the beginning of the story. Some years later maybe 2020 after spending thousands of hours on this game i finally went into gamestop and asked if they had anything as good as the witcher 3. The answer not one time, but two times from different stores is is no "Witcher is a masterpiece" . I agree. THe one bone i will throw to you is please give witcher 2 a try. It's pretty good. It actually is extremely story focused and fills in with a lot of dialog that fills in a lot of things in w-3. What i'm hoping is they decide to do a little more with the universe asap

Cyberpunk 2077

A Masterpiece: Experiencing the Cyberpunk world

From the moment I started playing Cyberpunk 2077, it was clear that this was not just another dystopian universe. This game is rich with heart and a profound narrative, has continually exceeded my expectations, and the DLCs have only deepened my appreciation. The world of Cyberpunk is crafted with meticulous attention to detail. The city breathes life into every corner, from skyscrapers to bustling marketplaces and fun little side quests that just appear. The story is immersive, driven by compelling characters and exceptional voice acting. The male V voice, in particular, perfectly encapsulates a mix of street-smart wit and nomadic wisdom, enhancing the player's connection to the world. I personally thought he was a highlight. Each relationship and interaction feels genuine, enriched by choices that feel impactful and real. Driving through the city, a feature I particularly adore despite my usual disdain for driving in real life, offers a unique way to explore this beautifully chaotic world. As large as the game is, I avoid fast travel; the subway is cool. The quests are not just tasks; they are adventures that often lead me to lose myself in the intrigue and excitement of Night City. The game's performance remains stellar, a testament to the developers' commitment to polish and perfect every aspect since launch. The addition of practical features, like buying apartments and utilizing them, adds layers of engagement and realism to the gameplay. I love some of the later additions like deeper romance. It makes it feel more immersive. The combat system and inventive cyberware offer endless possibilities for customization and strategy, making each encounter thrilling and unique. The music, akin to The Witcher 3's atmospheric tunes, complements every moment, enhancing the emotional and adrenaline-fueled scenes alike. Speaking of The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 is the only other game that captures a similar magic in storytelling and world-building, with each character and plot twist drawing you deeper into its world. If I could add anything, it would be a Cyberpunk version of Gwent—perhaps a high-stakes card game played in the backrooms of Night City's elusive casinos. In conclusion, Cyberpunk 2077 is not just a game; it's an experience. It's a journey through a meticulously crafted dystopian world that was near-perfect at launch and has only gotten better. For those who haven't yet walked the neon-soaked streets of Night City, you're in for an unforgettable adventure. I really want to thank the devs and the company for sticking with the game and their amazing work. I bought it on opening day (pre order) and have continued to enjoy its many versions and evolution. It was always great but now it's completely filled out and I love it as much as witcher 3. That's the maximum praise I can give a game.
