Knights of Honor II: Sovereign

What's this? What's this?!

I just got it on giveaway, and I thought it was one of those 90s game they sometimes give away, and I was thoroughly surprised to find out it was a mixture between CK2 and Total War. I've not played yet, but I'm going to follow its development from now on. Here's to a good 2023 for the developers!

Our chinese overlords tell us to play this game, and we do so. And guess what? It's a lot of fun.

Elven Legacy Collection

Equivalent to HoMM done more cheerful?

Gotta say, I didn't expect to get hooked into this game so much, rarely have I been really. Last time I did was with HoMM 5, and yes many argue the 3rd game was better, but grow up already, we can only play the same game for so long before we look for something else. I had to take a break from HoMM 5 and surprisingly found myself getting this game thanks to a friend, and I gotta say... the hell am I doing back in turn-based fantasy? The answer is... I don't know, this game just has this uniqueness to it that I've never seen before. The rules are bias and so are the graphics, but so what? It's actually enjoyable, you actually care about losing or winning your battles. In the harder difficulties, you actually have to give a damn about what are you going to do in the next 5 turns, and I love that. That's the difference between HoMM and EL. HoMM is casual, EL is headwrecking in both a good and a bad way, so go ahead and give it a try already!

The Metronomicon

Huh...

Though I don't own it in GoG, I'm well aware of what it is... It's hard to pinpoint where to start, but in truth this game offers a variety of many different genres and mixes it all together in the hopes of making a unique gameplay in an RPG setting. It's a bit hard to like this game if I do say so myself, or to stay engaged to it for hours. Not because it's bad, but because there's nothing in this game that can keep you in front of your screen for the next 72 hours. It's a game you best take your time with, and not think of this as anything revolutionary.

Of Light and Darkness: The Prophecy

Wow...

This is a game I actually grew up with, and though I don't remember much of it I do remember playing it over and over again. It's been ages and it surprised me to see it again, the name is quite hard to forget though, and so is its artistic styles. I don't know whether I'd recommend it to newcomers though, for again, I don't remember much about it. But for those who look for a nostalgic guilty pleasure, then this game is just for you!

American Conquest + Fight Back

"TW: Empire" done right!

Yes, I said it and I'll say it again, this is the game that Total War Empire tried to be like, but failed miserably. This review will be short because, let's face it... This is an underrated game that deserves more than just the love it gets from people that found this gem by mere coincidence. If this was a franchise, it would easily be a match to Total War! So shut up and buy it!

X-Com: UFO Defense

Holy...!

You better start finding that old manual book that once came with this game, because boy it will confuse your head and make you bash it against the keyboard once you find yourself in your first three battles. But once you do get your head around it, and of course, bypass the outdated graphics you'll find this diamond that has remained beautiful over the course of what feels like centuries now! Sure, the new X-Com rocks, but this only proves THIS game, X-Com: UFO Defense was years ahead of its time! It had an idea, it developed it, and though it's only about 99.9% perfect, it delivered one of the greatest experiences to anyone that ever grew up with this game and franchise. So you best get those Bitcoins exchanged, because you will wish you could play more of this game once you're done with it!

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri™ Planetary Pack

A sure headache, but a good one!

I'm not even kidding when I say it, this can wreck your mood and nerves if you let it fool you, control, and make you its... well, you know what I mean. So really, when you find that it's time to call it a day, please do so! Because otherwise, you'll get caught up in the "One More Turn" syndrome, and before you know it, two years will pass in the real world... YOU'VE BEEN WARNED: THIS GAME IS ADDICTING AS ALL GOOD SID MEIER'S GAMES SHOUDL BE!

Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood

Yes, yes, yes!

This is a childhood game, this and a mafia game which name's I simply don't remember but it follows the same gimmick as, as we all know, Commando. And it's true what you'll find about this game. This is Commando for Dummies. It may frighten you and your money away, thinking it won't be worth your while, but this dummed down version is actually a very enjoyable piece of medieval satisfaction. Give it a try, especially if you already tried Commando or Rainbow Six and are having a hard time coordinating yourself and multiple units at the same time. As all games though, if you're such a badass you might be able to beat it with Robin and his cousin alone.

Heroes of Might and Magic® 5: Bundle

Worry not, this game is worth it!

Trust me when I say, it's best if you don't criticize a game by its predecessors. "It's not as good as HOMM3, therefore it sucks!" so says the rabble, but you and I know better, right? At this point of our lives, we're grown fat ass men and women who, of course, regard their childhood games as unparalleled gems. As things that will never be surpassed simply because we grew up with these titles. Searching for something BETTER than your childhood memories is like asking for a second chance to become a kid again, and let's face it, the only thing that makes us quiver like little gremlins are mechas and giant monsters fighting one another, but I'm getting off topic here. This game is highly worth it. Why? Because I freaking say so, that's why! Forget about HOMM3, stop comparing this underrated gem to an overrated gem, because you'll never find peace between them. If you really want to enjoy this, or any game, you need to think outside the box. This game is not revolutionary, nor is its graphics beyond its time. It's an old game, for an audience of another generation, just like HOMM3 is to the OLDER generation. All I can truly tell to you, dear reader, is: This game is worth it.
