Here is the TLDR: If you were expecting something like Call of Pryipyat you will be disaponted with the "intro" to the game. In fact I'm going to play that again while I wait for this game to be finished. You cannot Keybind everything, like the quick melee attack is PERMA bound to V, your headlight is perma bound with L. So if you bind "Select Fire Mode" to V or L, you will also attempt to turn off your headlamp or do a Knife Attack whenever you switch fireing modes. I'm using reccomended SPECS and I'm still getting stuttering and variable frame rates on MEDIUM default settings. I don't think Quick Access items are working correctly? In the other stalker games F1 F2 F3 F4 would be individual items. I like to rebind first aid kits to H and Bandages on F2 so I try to rebind my keys but now its only one button? Like the game just randomly decides which item would be better for me when I hit H and it wont let me rebind Quick Access Item 2 to F2. Inventory doesn't feel as fluid to me as say Call Of Pryipyat's Inventory, super don't like that I can't move while its open. Radial menu seems like a good idea, but again I don't know if its working correctly. Like you can't turn your headlamp on using the Radial Menu unless you pull your gun out first. Honestly I feel like its been VERY consoleifyed/made to cater to controllers (not the mutants). If I had enough willpower I would have waited a year/until the first expansion came out. They'll probs have fixes or mod fixes by then. Of course, this was made on launch day and the game was partially developed into a Warzone so I understand at a certain point you need to release the game to recoup losses. Just Fu*king sucks this is the gameing world we live in today. Buy the game at launch but you still have to wait for it to we "playable". I am giving it a 1 because I SUPER don't think you should buy it until fixes or mod fixes are pushed out. Then buy the Ultimate Edition.
Yeah its fucking fun, its warhammer. If those dipshits at games workshop released more story driven games I'd give more of a shit about them. That being said, this game by OwlCat is way to fucking complicated and the rolls are ruled by the most asinine stupid as fuck rule set I have ever had the misfortune of reading. Its just way to fucking confusing and wordy and I honestly cant even tell you if have the shit it says actually happens in the game. Take your inititive rolls for example. Even setting my stats to insane numbers, setting the enemies to roll only a 1, I'm still not going first. Just what in the fuck is up with that. None of the percentages in your character sheet seem to translate properly in combat. Seems like the only number that is true is on your armor where it says X% of attacks will be dodged this chapter. Maybe I just don't undertstand it all but then doesn't that make this dogshit design? I mean tottally, absolutely dog shit design. I'm talking so stupid you would be put to death for being so mentally r e t @ ar ded in like the 1800s or some shit. Again, maybe I am misinterpreting the kind of game this is suppose to be, what with the difficulty spikes in enemeies and shit gear you get for most of chapter 1. Its still a fun as fuck game espcially when I'm just going around talkin to folk like is a visual novel. You can also edit the difficulty with custom mode. Like modifying enemy stats and shit but I don't want it to be too easy. I just want it to fucking make sense and it doesn't. Legit the initive rolls are the only thing ruining this game for me at the time of this review because it really just doesn't seem to fuckin work right. Those of you who "think" they understand initive are wrong. Because, again, using mod tools setting my stats to insane numbers, setting my initative to 100 and the enemies to ONE (1) I am still not going first in combat. Just buy this game when its on sale I got the Super fuck you deluxe edition for 40 bucks
Pretty linear, but I still got lost here and there because the game doesn't really let you interact with ANYTHING, so you just gotta run into stuff or kick stuff and see what works. Combat makes no sense to me. Seems like its suppose to heavy centered around melee combat, but you get fuckin torn to SHREDS if you try to get close to the guys with sub guns, but getting surrounded by like 20 zombies is fine cuse you've got a crappy bayonet sword. Mostly because the game has "combos", which is where my confusion comes from. So those guys with sub guns right? Don't wanna let them surround you because they kill ya fast right? So you'd think, "all right I'll do this part a little slower and pick em off from afar". Nope. All the fuckin camera shaken and the fact it takes like four or 5 (depending on the jerry) makes that a little difficult. So you rush in anyways hope for the best, and find out that the bayonet IS WAY MORE EFFECITVE ATTACHED TO YOUR GUN THAN IT IS WHEN YOU USE IT AS A SWORD. Plus the combos are fuckin stupid. You really telling me, that some fuckin fleshy german can TANK TWO shot gun blasts nearly point blank to the chest, but fuckin falls over and croaks if I KICK him first, THEN shoot once? Also just fuckin holding left mouse while holding a melee weapon counts as a "combo". At the time of this review I think ive played up to like chapter four (4) and I don't think imma go any further. I played on Man of Courage which is like normal I think? My BIGGEST gripe is that the mounted machine guns are S.H.I.T. There is a mini boss in chapter one you gotta kill to get his fancy item, and you'd think, oh I'll just fuckin mow him down using the MG nests near by. Way more effective to dance around him stabbing him with a shovel or bayonet. Also Invisible walls suck. I got this for a dollar and it sucked up a couple hours for me. Real cool idea for a game, real poor execution. I do LOVE having a dedicated "one liner" button tho.
