DOOM II

Perfect adaptation for modern computers

This version does everything I remember the DOS version doing. The controls are easily customized, and haven't noticed any issues running on Windows 10. Owning a classic like Doom 2 is worth the modest price tag.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy

Controller Support? Where?

I had high hopes of getting working versions of MK 1-3. This package didn't at all deliver... 1) There's no apparent way to select MK 1 or 2 from any menu, so there's 2/3 of the game not accessible. 2) Controller support is advertised, but when it comes time to configure and use it, it's virtually non-existent. I have 2 different arcade fighting sticks, one of which is Microsoft certified for Windows 10. MK Trilogy won't recognize that one at all, and the other generic stick is very hit and miss with ability to assign in menu buttons to physical buttons on the arcade stick. I haven't had hours to muck around with that as yet. 3) The above 2 means I effectively have 3 games I can't play. Normally GOG is good about checking games for compatibility and making sure they run smoothly, so I didn't expect such a sloppy job this time around. The only reason I didn't ask for a refund is my hope that one day GOG picks up on this and corrects these mistakes so players can, uh, play the game.
