Writing this before the new dawn that is suppose to be the release of Thronebreaker, so if the update lands I'll rewrite accordingly. Currently Gwent suffers being very stale. Scaling combinations have been toned down, interesting interactions have been removed and cards have been gravitated towards the very bland baseline value. The exceptions to this rule are also the most annoying cards as the vast majority of the remaining cards can't properly answer them making it rock paper scissors more often than appears(notable examples include Imlerith Sabbath and Viper witchers). Instead of taking the approach of making everything so broken it feels like there's always some exploit strategy to be found(a la Hearthstone) CDPR decided try to make the game "balanced". This failed and the game became increasingly boring, which let to CDPR making a second humongous misstep with the midwinter update. Not addressing the fact they were busy killing fun but instead trying to remedy their failure with added RNG. Since then the game is what it is. 90% of your games in high rank will be the same four decks. It's a GCC so it will be very interesting initially, but in it's current state you really don't want to invest in it.
