I've played Gwent casually (a few games here and there) since the beta. The game has definitely come a long way and is a great way to pass the time. I can see how people can get hooked and play a lot/competitively but for me, this has been the ideal way to enjoy playing a few games a day. The game isn't perfect, but it plays well, doesn't require a high-end PC, has a good progression structure and has a pretty fair monetazation platform. I don't think it will ever be Hearthstone or MTG in terms of popularity but if you don't care for that sort of thing, this game is just as enjoyable with its' own unique mechanics and decks.
