So this adventure game is a is mixed bag. On the one hand the visuals are stunning, audio and voice acting spot on. Lizzie is awesome at first. The story pulls you in. Game play is extremely easy. Not a lot of running around back and forth. Puzzles are really simple, or non existent. This game is more walking simulator, than point and click. They made Lizzie look so lifelike that the fact that her chest was not moving when she breathed bothered me, but later on that makes more sense. The story is the weak part. About half way through of the game the story takes a serious left turn. Which if you had noticed a few things at the beginning made a lot of sense. Once this twist happens the story kind of lost my interest. Once I finished the game, I uninstalled it. Really no replay value to this one. And it's a short game 3 hours or so to finish. It being short, it never got repetitive, or boring for that matter. Game was more like a 3 hour movie that a adventure game. I'd give this one 4 1/2 stars. I've had a few issues with clipping. I was supposed to jump on a moving block... Only I kept falling through the rock. About the 4 time I tried it, finally I could land on the rock and finish the puzzle. I've fallen through other things at times. Once I fell into the ground, and had a tough time getting out. My only real complaint, there just doesn't seem to be a clear goal at first. The more you play it the more you figure out how to get more health, and more power. And how to complete a level. The lack of speech or any direction can be a little annoying. That being said, you just explore the heck out of where you can go, and you'll find the way most of the time. I've spent a lot of time searching for areas I've missed. Often searching out a area way more than I needed as I cleared the section a while ago... Works great with my Xbox controller. All in all a great game. Worth every penny!
Once I started playing the game, my first thought was it's amazing. My second thought this is Tomb Raider. So if you liked the Tomb Raider series, you might like this one. What I mean by that is it's a third person game where you run around jump, climb, shimmy, and pick up objects, or use your "voice" to activate puzzles. The music is haunting, and amazing. The visuals are top notch, breath taking at times. I have a GTX 1080 card with an older i7 processor. The game ran flawless on my system with every graphic option turned on. I had never heard of this game, but it looked amazing, so I grabbed it. I'm not disappointed. I rarely play many of the games I purchase right away. I just finally played Torchlight and Torchlight 2. After buying them about 5 years ago. But this one I tried and I've play it for about 2 hours so far. I'll finish it soon I imagine. So far I would say the game is pretty kid friendly.
I purchased, played, and finished every Tex Murphy adventure back in the 90's. The last time I played was back 1998... It had been soon long, that I forgotten how much fun it was to play. The developers did a great job creating a Tex Murphy game. The plot is good, and video and voice acting was the same as the old games. If you like the old games from the 90's, get this one. Now my biggest issue with the game is, well it seems incomplete. Like they had plans for so much more... But didn't do anything with many of the sets they built. The Largest level is a 4 level base. And yeah you run around doing stuff in it.... But so much of the base is empty of things to do. I saw places that to me clearly looked like they were going to do stuff, but didn't. At one point you find a active remote control console, but you never use it. Clearly they were thinking about it... Just didn't pan out. There's a new club that you go to some trouble to get the access card. Only you never have to go to the club, or use the card. I'll play it again, to see a different ending. It does have 5 different endings. If your a fan of the old series, only one ending is truly happy... I mean for a game that brags they filmed 160 hours of video, only used 6 hours.... I have the feeling they left a lot unfinished and cut. But I still give this game 4 stars. It's a great game to wrap up the story... I just hope Tex returns again!
