It seems like the developers threw out buzzword titles of famous game, but then created and sold something different. I purchased this through GMG instead of Steam, so I was unable to get a refund. I don't recommend this game to anyone. If you disregard my warning please try it on Steam first to ensure you can get a refund in a reasonable amount of time.
I didn't experience too many bugs while playing on the pc version, but the game overall fell flat for me. I would say the game is average for the rpg genre, and visually pretty. Things that stopped me from loving it/finishing it: 1. Choices that didn't matter due to story predetermined narrative. 2. Loot system is cumbersome and more boring than usual. 3. Driving is more of a chore than fun. I suggest waiting for a sale if you're interested in trying it out. I wouldn't pay more than 29.99 usd for this experience.
What older Baldur's Gate games would have looked like if they had more tech back then. To anyone unsure about $60 for an EA title I suggest not purchasing it until it's finished. Personally, I really enjoy playing while it's in development so that I can help shape the game with feedback. However, if you want something finished for $60 Cyberpunk is around the corner. Story-Neat way of getting co-operation out of npcs that usually wouldn't work together. Characters-Unique, with different perspectives n goals. Music-Good, but need more tunes. Choices-Each encounter can be handled various ways. Multiplayer-Up to 4?, but I haven't tried it yet.
Glad to see this gem resurfacing in 2020 on GoG! To those confused about pricing? It's very simple, you may have already owned the game via Steam, so THQ just gave you a fantastic price on an upgrade. The game has never been released on GoG, so there is no upgrade option. Why buy drm free? well, maybe you shouldn't. Drm riddled games typically are cheaper. As to why would someone who owns the original purchase this remaster? Simple really, brand new DLC is coming that will probably only work with the remaster. Also, it shows THQ that interest remains in the franchise. If you're still on the fence, don't buy it?
What a let down. Thankfully, I was able to watch some of the actual in game footage from Youtube before purchasing this abomination. A good example of what happens when the wrong people gain access to a great IP. If you're interested in what specifically I take issue with well here goes: 1. The visuals are very dated. I love old school games, but this is just lazy. 2. Most players have reported poor experience with the multiplayer. 3. Poor writing. I can forgive horrible visuals for a great story line, but that's not the case here. If you're looking for a great old school experience, I suggest that you find the original Baldur's Gate. The mod community has made it able to withstand the effects of time to a bit.
