A Plague Tale: Innocence is a dark, disturbing story, yet a captivating, sad, and beautiful journey of a girl and her little brother, their bond being one of the most heartwarming I've ever seen in a game. Once in a while, true pieces of art are created, this is one of them, a literal masterpiece from the first moment to the final scene. The soundtrack is astonishing, the scenery mind-blowing, the characters and their relationships incredibly well-crafted. I highly recommend playing it with French voice acting, it has phenomenal actors, fits the setting perfectly, and adds so much to the immersion. This is why I love narrative games, and why I believe video games to be the strongest medium for delivering unforgettable stories.

This is the beginning of one of the biggest, most loved and most successful franchises in video games history. And, while it is nice to see how it started, it is hard to play. The gameplay is hard and clunky, and so are the controls and everything else. The story has also been retconned. I struggled to force myself to finish it. But I felt so good when I did. The last 2/3 Missions of each campaign are a pain. Huge pain. But once you get your strategy right, it works well. Can't say I did not have fun playing it. It had its moments, and I loved seeing the roots of Warcraft. And, again, it felt good beating it. But it aged horribly.
