Shadow Man Remastered

Shadow Man, one of the best games ever!

Shadow Man was a masterpiece when it was released and it still is now more than 20 years later. The unique atmosphere, music, level design, story and much more, just great. It is a lot of fun to collect these dark souls. While I didn't have time yet to play this remaster extensively, it offers a lot (new content, full resolution, gamepad support, etc.). For everyone who doesn't know Shadow Man, now is the time to get to know it. For everyone who already owns the orignal version (like me), this remaster is the perfect opportunity to experience this classic in a new exciting way. My only request to GOG is that everyone who purchases this remaster also gets the original version, just as they did with "Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition" and "Planescape Torment: Enhanced Edition".

Mortal Kombat 4

Finally, Mortal Kombat 4 is back!

For a looong time, MK4 was not available anywhere. Thank you GOG for bringing it back from limbo! I encourage everyone to check it out, because this is a fantastic game, even now after all these years!! It's the first MK I ever played as a teenager and this game blew my mind (it still does!). This MK is really unique and no other game from the series is like that (in a very positive sense!). From at least the first eight MK games, MK4 features the fastest gameplay, which is much fun. It went back to the roots after MK3 got too ridiculous with silly finishers. The graphics look great (in motion better than on the screenshots!) and for some reason the characters here look much more real than in the later 3D MK games (Deadly Alliance, etc.). Some of the battle cries and moves are really funny, I love that. The weapon system is most fun in 2-player mode (when I played against a friend, I frequently knocked his weapon off and dared him to pick it up from the ground before I landed in his face with a flying kick, this teasing was quite funny). The cutscene movies are awesome (great atmosphere) and give you motivation to beat the game with every character. The PC version is the best version of MK4 there is, because in the arcade version Goro was missing and the cutscene movies were much less impressive. While the arcade version has somewhat better graphics, the home console versions have more to offer and the PC version is superior to PS/N64. Not everything is perfect: While Shinnok has much potential as a boss (as we have seen in MK9), here he is very weak despite being an Elder God. However, Goro is awesome!! I only miss one thing: In the original PC version of MK4, when the game started, there was the option menu displaying a picture of Scorpian in the living forest and you could hear the laugh of the announcer. That's not in the GOG version. Other than that, the GOG version is flawless (Flawless Victory).

Dragon's Lair Trilogy

Horrible garbage port of great classics!

Dragon's Lair is a masterpiece. Space Ace, from what I have seen, is equally fantastic. Dragon's Lair 2 is too fast-paced for me, but regarded as good, too. This port, which is identical to the Steam version, is horrible: - Space Ace is unplayable after a few minutes. I push the fire button at the correct timing, but I'm stuck in a specific scene (when these green monsters chase me) and die everytime. The "Energize" function never words correctly, as other players here have confirmed. - The menu is an abomination (ported from mobile??). I have never seen worse mouse support. I don't want to use the mouse, but keyboard or controller in the menu is even worse. - Awful translation full of errors (German, someone wrote the same for Italian), it seems from automatic translation. I want to choose English, but it's not possible. You get the language of your PC. - Original was in 4:3, now it's only widescreen. Other players stated that the top and bottom are cut off, therefore part of the picture is missing. So sad, this should not be sold. Play these great games, but not this unworthy port. I guess MAME is the best choice.

STAR WARS™ Episode I: Racer

Excellent game!

Don't be discouraged by the bad movie, because Episode 1 Racer is an excellent game! I was surprised how good it is. This is absolutely one of the best Star Wars games ever and for me the best Sci-Fi Racing game. Not only multiplayer, but it also has a great single player tournament mode. Don't miss this fantastic game!

Hitman 3: Contracts

Play "Hitman: Codename 47"

"Second best Hitman game", are you kidding me?? This is the weakest Hitman game and the only one, which is not good. While "Hitman: Codename 47" was PC exclusive, Contracts is an imcomplete remake of Codename 47. Incomplete because some of the best levels are missing and the new ones are not great. The remake levels are not as good as the original ones, because the tone is wrong. The original Hitman had a perfect balance between dark humor and seriousness. Here it's all dark and gritty (always raining, dark scenes) and not much dark humor left. Do yourself a favor and play Codename 47, which perfectly defines how Hitman is supposed to be. Contracts is also ruined by the save feature and the mini-map, which takes the suspense away. In Codename 47 you cannot save during missions, but this is great, because it makes the experience more intense and immersive.

Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death

I AM THE LAW!

I give this game 5 stars: You are police, jury and executioner in one person, this is worth 3 stars. Another star, because Dredd is the most badass name. And another star, because "I am the law" is the best onliner ever. Together, 5 stars. Seriously, the game has some flaws, but overall is much fun. Its futuristic setting and the Judge Dredd character are really unique. The game is a bit short, but for this price you really cannot complain. Give it a chance, it's really awsome. The tutorial was a bit lame, but it gets better and better after that. Overall, I can fully recommend it and I'm happy to have played it.

Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation + Chronicles

Recommended

Both games are awesome and still great today! Thank you that the GOG version includes German as well. I have a request for GOG: In the game library, Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation shows a picture of Tomb Raider 3. This bothers me, because it's a picture of the wrong game. Please correct this by uploading a picture from The Last Revelation.
