Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut

Fantastic story

I'm someone who enjoys turn-based RPGs, but who knew nothing about the Shadowrun universe before buying this game on Gog because it had good reviews. This is a superb small game. Intuitive combat, linear quest line with lots of optional side quests. Interesting NPCs, and everyone in your party has a storyline that fleshes out over the course of the game. I call the game small, because there is a straightforward progression to the quests, and it isn't an open world. Five stars because the storyline is FANTASTIC. Truly one of the best in-game stories I've encountered. About replayability: I've built a few different characters up to replay certain combats. The final battle isn't the most interesting one in the game IMO, so there isn't much inventive to play repeatedly until the end. The most interesting combat scenario is in an optional quest ("the prototype"). I hope to see more from this studio. Worth your time.

Serpent in the Staglands

Classless characters, free-roaming map

You can go anywhere you want, and build as anything you want. Almost no hints about what build is best, so the entire game I've been feeling a bit uneasy. That's the game atmosphere: dark, and you're always a bit on edge. Lots of bugs or I'd give it five stars. If you're reading this after it's been out for a month, there's a good chance those are fixed and it's a five star game. Harder than most RPGs I've played. Story is interesting and unusual. You're a detective looking for clues, and the next battle could be a cakewalk or the monsters could one-shot you. If you want a struggle, I highly recommend it.

King's Bounty: Dark Side - Premium Edition

First part great, second part terrible

I loved Crossworlds, one of my favorite games. Dark Side is fantastic until about level 30. Then it becomes horrible. I didn't bother to finish the game. All fights become easy but still long (the worst combination), the quests are boring, the storyline is pointless. I wish they had just made a smaller game. Then I would have given it 5 stars. It feels as though they ran out of time or money. What a shame.
