I own Cloudpunk on another platform, but I wanted to review it here to encourage folks to check out this amazing game. Cloudpunk, as a game, is mostly a pick-up-and-deliver fest. If you stuck to just the core story, you'd probably get bored. The fun part of the game is driving around the main city, Nivalis, parking and exploring the different sections of the city. This is a voxel game, but Nivalis really looks dark, gloomy and gorgeous despite the style. Another strength is the dialogue. The characters are relatable, have flaws amd feel like real people. I'd encourage you to talk to all thr characters you can, as many have interesting things to say. Cloudpunk is a super indie game, but it does so much well and truly captures the cyberpunk future. Don't miss out on this one!
I am a huge Lovecraft fan, but Call of Cthulu was a letdown in almost every way. The story and setting were really drawing me in, but there are just too many issues with the gameplay itself. The game has a hard time deciding which game it wants to be. Sometimes it's an investigation game, sometimes it's a stealth game, sometimes a puzzler. A game can be all of those things, but none of the parts feel like they make a cohesive whole. I stopped playing the game in Chapter 6 during a stealth section that has to be one of the more poorly designed stealth levels I've ever played. The worst part BY FAR is the IDIOTIC save system. There are no manual saves, the game autosaves at chapter breaks, or after performing certain actions in a level. However, for the latter, there is no telling which actions will prompt a save, meaning there's also no telling what you have to redo/refind if you get a game over. I've lost progreess over and over when I was interrupted during a play and had to go back to the random point the game decided to save at. This game could have been so good, it gets a lot of the feeling of a Lovecraft story right. The execution is just terrible.
