Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut

Great story - Combat system is flaky

The speech and story elements of the game are what kept me going. The whole story is brilliant. It never felt like a chore and your input choices in converstaions feel important. You can't just back out of them either with a Fallout-esqe "I'll be going now", doing that prompts a justified response from the NPC if it's a serious, emotional discussion. But. Combat needs massive improvement and ruined it for me. Don't expect the cover system to work like XCOM or anything similar. You can't brace against wall edges and shoot round them. You have to be physically able to see above ANY cover which is silly and frustrating for me as it limits your options majorly. The fact that the edge of a lorry, for instance, gives you a "full cover" bonus (like in XCOM) in the first place somewhat begs the question as to why you can't possibly utilise it in a combat situation. Hit chance is broken. Unless i'm truly cursed there's nearly zero chance of anything hitting below 70%. Clicking on enemies (to fire at) is a delicate process as more often or not you'll click just outside their marker and send your character gallavanting over to them. A lot of variation in combat styles/disciplines but not much in the respect of stealth or anything outside of "start a big firefight". There's some talent behind this for sure but the combat needs to be worked on.
