This game is satisfaction in doses. Finding the clues you missed and connecting the dots is addictive. It has a great story and is forgiving in a lot of who, what and hows. If you get stuck theres always the chance to best guess and continue on. A lot of the time you either get lucky or can estimate who's who. Worst comes to worst you can look up some things.. like where Morocco is.. yeah.. geography. It helps without getting a full walkthrough spoiler. In any case, I highly recommend this game. It's a great puzzle to come back to even years down the way.
This is a fantastic adventure in a broad universe that is left open ended. Whatever adventure lay beyond the game is left open to the imagination, but the story hints at so much that is left open to the player. It is a product of it's time - point and click from 1990 - but beyond that, or perhaps because of that it has a robustness that is worth a play or replay even in 2025.
Monkey Island, Sam and Max, Simon the Sorcerer, The Legend of Kyrandia - I enjoyed them all and all of them had a good laugh, or at least I appreciated the effort put into it (Simon 3d - /shudder). This game is not fun and is outlandish in a way that makes suspension of disbelief somewhat impossible. As such: *minor spoiler below* Now I've never been to France, but I'd think the Paris police would take an in-home assault and theft more seriously than having to argue (repeat click a button) to place a complaint and still claim no proof and the guy was making it up. But that's not the worst of it. The hot spot descriptions, the character attitudes, and the overall interactions make the game seem like it was written by a middle school or high school level student experimenting with game design. There seems to be maybe some translation issues, and I expected some problems but even taking that into account the writing is just atrocious. The "toilet humor" was just sad. It was like listening to a 10 year old tell a story and suddenly they decided to put in a fart for no reason. I've read Ad-Libs with the word "Fart" put in that have ended up more amusing. In short, I don't see any humor and at most a weak attempt at writing humor. The pixel search cookie finding, the BORING flat screen interactions, and the limited npc interactions -they are all terrible. Honestly, this game seems like one made for mobile play. The ambient sounds are completely forgettable - you may as well be playing with the sound off. There really isn't much of a difference. The screens all seem incredibly flat and basic, and the item interaction is somewhat annoying. The jumping through hoops to get something to work I expected, but the artificial extension of a chapter was palpable with additional steps that completely took me out of the story. In summary avoid this game. And realize that if you do buy it, the only real joke is that you bought it in the first place.
