Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

Meh

This DLC is essentially Escape from New York with Snake Plisken (You, the player) being lead around the nose by everyone else and compounds the problem of the main game. The player is not the hero of main game or the DLC, you are a side character in your own story. In the game game, Johnny is just not that compelling a character and ultimately he fails as a side character like Cortana in Halo or Xana from Dark Messiah. There are other issues like the egregious lack of show-don't tell with Jackie from the main game, we're told we're supposed to care about them. The team you start off with all being killed off screen or by other people. We don't know them enough to really care all that much and I think the game would have benefited substantially if we'd had a few hours of missions with them before encountering Dex and getting screwed over. The DLC has different but similar problems. Song has betrayed absolutely everyone, Reed ends up being ambushed and left for dead, the president etc and everyone is doing their best to wave away how much of a snake she is. We get the message that you shouldn't trust anyone but the person we're mostly told to excuse the inexcusable behaviour of, she gets the most benefit and she clearly doesn't deserve it. Not only that, but she's messing with the Black Wall, the only thing keeping AI from destroying mankind. How reed is treated is how Jackie should have been treated, you grow to like him and he's a cool dude and you grow to like him but you can see all the twists coming a mile away. The ESG is in full effect. Lots of women. All of the women are specifically plain to ugly while the male characters are anything but. The president gets the drop on V (I don't care that she's a marine and ex-CEO, female soldiers is a stupid idea) and strong-womans her in the most girl-boss manner imaginable. All the promoitional material has female V. There are marketable improvements but it's hit or miss. Wait for sale.
