Broken in the Very Beginning

I cannot even talk to Everard, the priest in the first town. I click on him and nothing happens. This used to work. How did you people manage to break this???

Baldur's Gate 3

Pathfinder Set in Spelljammer Universe

I bought this in Steam, and got my money back. This is not Baldur's Gate. This is Pathfinder set in the Spelljammer universe. The battle system is Pathfinder. The graphics are still the same as BGI and BGII; that is to say I still cannot always see where my people can and cannot walk. However, the Baldur's Gate battle system is fluid. The die is roll in the background; your speed is accounted for; your number-of-attacks per-round are accounted for. Spells can be interrupted, because they take a certain amount of time to cast. In this imposter game, die are rolled in the background, and you are assigned a spot in the flow of battle. Sometimes, when you try to attack, that is to say move and attack, it will say you cannot. BUT, if you move, then attack, you can. That means poor game mechanics. Your spells will not be interrupted, because they are cast during your turn, not fluidly as part of the larger battle. There is entirely too many cut-scenes, making this more a movie in which you get to do stuff, rather than a game with period interesting scenes. The screen-scroll is off by default, so you are forced to fumble around in the options to find where to activate that. This crap with pulling the scene around is just that: crap. It hinders fluid game mechanics. In short, this is over-priced, poorly conceptualized, poorly planned, and poorly developed. They think that they are going to get 260€ for their digital content release, trying to emotionally blackmail avid players of the BG series into paying 60€ for something that is not true to the Baldur's Gate series. Bill this as part of the Pathfinder series, because that is what you have developed. You've taken a great game series and screwed it up for a whole new generation, who are unfamiliar with the original Baldur's Gate I and Baldur's Gate II games. Some of us are veteran players of those original games, and don't appreciate what you have done.

Sacred Fire Demo

Quit at Character Creation

As soon as you start talking about optimal builds and having to make choices based on what will be most advantageous, you are NOT an RPG. This is a game for power-gamers. RPGs are all about conceptualizing a character and playing it true to its conception, not making choices based off of what gives you the best advantage. So, I do NOT recommend this to the RPGers out there.

Evoland Legendary Edition

No Video or Audio Control

I cannot even play this. There is no way to change the video resolution. It is unspeakably pixelated on my monitor. I cannot turn off the annoying music. I get that people love that for nostalgic reasons, but I actually played the old games. We turned the volumn off and put on our own music. Trying to start, the mouse did nothing. It read "Press A to Start". My thought was "how"? I don't have a controller. Well, after a lot of hoops to jump through, it turns out you can use the keyboard. But, the hugest game-stopper for me are the graphics, and my inability to change the resolution. I cannot even find where I bought it at! It reads GOG in the game panel, but there is no such thing in my purchase history. So, if you are going to play this, get a very small or old monitor.

Myst Masterpiece Edition

Relaxing Fun, for Intellectually Curious

I am playing the Real Myst Masterpiece Edition on Win 10, 64 bits. It's a new computer that I just built July 2022. The graphics are good! They aren't Skyrim, but they are not the poor-quality that some others have described. I've seen new games with worse graphics, because they use the object-not-found depiction to make lego-looking crap. This is not an RPG game. It IS an adventure game, because you ARE exploring various lands. That is the definition of adventure. It's not a thriller. You are solving a mystery. It is mostly a philosophy question about the good twin and evil twin. Or are they both good/evil? See, that was what I had in mind when I played this back in the day. You have to draw your own maps, and write down clues, including text and graphical clues. Lazy people shouldn't bother with this game. This is for intellectually curious and industrious people. You have to be thorough and observant. Those are dirty words in the 2020s. They were not dirty words in the 1990s. We didn't expect the game to hand us things on a silver platter. Yes, it is heavily-ladened with puzzles. So, if you do not like puzzles, do not buy this. I see so many people getting on here and whining about how horrible this game is. I also have the original CDs here at home. This was a VERY unique game for its time. I was enthralled by it! Back in the day, we had 7th Guest, Might and Magic Clouds of Xeen, Dagger of Amon Ra.... We had the Bard's Tale trilogy behind us and the Baldur's Gate games in front of us. I feel that a ton of people, who do not understand what an adventure game is, and had completely false expectations of the game, have gotten on here in an attempt to drive the rating into the ground. Why this didn't work on Win 7 or Win XP, I do not know. It worked on Win 8.1, and it works on Win 10. I did not have to do anything to make it work. It just worked. Maybe people have some funky setting in their Windows.

Through the Darkest of Times

Shoving it Down your Throat

When I was a child, youth, and young lady (I was born 22 years after the end of WWII), we could still have neutral, intellectual conversations, like if the Jews were in so much danger, why didn't countries like the US and UK raise the immigration quotas? Answer, they hated the Jews, too, and didn't want them either. We could talk about the jobs that were created by Hitler, the vacation spots, one family homes, and how he cleaned Germany of the lack-of-morals that extreme liberalism brought - just like it has brought it again today. That everything goes. Everyone has only rights and no responsibilities. The mindless, black-and-white, anti-Hitler slant is disgusting for me. See, I learned from Goebbels propaganda, and recognize it in any form and THIS is it. In this game, you play a paranoid, irrational person in Germany starting around 1923. Nothing has really happened yet, and still you start a group to harass a political party. Once things start really kicking into high gear with the Jew-hate (anti-semitism would include Arabs, because they are also a semitic people), gypsy-hate, and so much more, which the bulk of the Germans wallowed in, you still basically do nothing in this game. Fast forward to the scenes in the game where you are asked if you want to court the Soviets or the Brits. I said I would have to think about it, but was never given the chance to court Soviet help. ??? The intro of the game would have you believe that soooo many Germans were against Hitler. I have lived here 22 years. I got the elderly people in the West back when to open up to me. They had nothing against Hitler, but were so afraid of the Americans, that they destroyed things that had nothing to do with the Nazis for fear of being branded a sympathizer, which they all were. If 1/10 of the people who claim to have fought against the Nazis had actually done so, we would not have seen this era. The world was never black and white. Not even under the National Socialist government.

Detective Gallo

Annoying!!

I'm having problems getting past the plant guy. His CONSTANT whining and moaning is ANNOYING!! If I turn down the volume, I cannot hear what the main character is saying. Please people!! Some of us have ADHD and cannot concentrate when there is unnecessary shit going on!! Why don't people think about these things? So far, I have been forced in a VERY linear fashion to do things that make no sense. The plant guy was obviously a sniveling loser, but you are forced to point a gun at him? By all means, let's point guns, but let's do it when it makes sense. I agree with the reviews regarding the humor. I was just posting on my profile in Steam about how frustrated, wanna-be, stand-up comedians seem to have turned to writing for video games. Then, I decide to try this game, and find that my complaints are justified. The writing would be tolerable, if the game were less linear, and the unnecessary noise could be STOPPED!

BAD END THEATER

Trying for All the Endings

makes this a fun game!! I enjoyed going back and trying yet another decision to see where it would lead me. You choose a character, whose perspective is represented in the game. Each choice you make could unlock another character, or a new ending. Exploring your options is the fun of this game!

Fabled Lands Demo

Review of Demo

This game has real promise. The combat is extremely simple. The most irritating thing, as was noted in the reviews for the full-version, is the constantly returning to a given spot to re-roll the dice in order to proceed with a quest. Maybe consider doing the rolling, but making the quest encounter happen regardless AFTER the rolled encounter. I look forward to playing the full version.

Epic Tavern

This Will Never Be Ready-for-Release

I own this in Steam. It has been in early access 5 years, and still riddled with bugs. The encounters are not coordinated correctly with the responses. One hero rolls a fail, but is the savior of the moment, just randomly. Not even for a justifiable reason. Until the devs actually release this, and it has the bugs cleaned up, which can be found listed in Steam, so I will not re-list them here, I would not recommend buying this. So sad, because the concept was really nice!
