Do you know what it feels like to be all alone? How will you survive? Where will you sleep tonight? You're in this huge, magical world now, and you're all by yourself. Oblivion manages, through its use of soft melancholy music and sweeping, beautiful vistas, to send you on an adventure like no other. Skyrim might be more advanced but, for me, it never captured the thrills of grand adventure, horror, and consequence that Oblivion did. It gives you all this, plus the ability to bring in any clothes, armor, or houses you want, allowing you to make it *your* world in every way. I spent hundreds of hours in Cyrodiil even before tracking my playtime on Steam, and it was Oblivion that showed me the thrill of making my own objects and worlds through its Construction Kit, starting me on the road toward game design. Oblivion might seem outdated - even goofy - now. But it is the adventure of a lifetime, and when GOG tells you that you could spend a lifetime playing this game, it's not far from the truth.
