Looking at the surface of CP2077 the game is gorgeous, it's probably some of (if not the best) graphics I've ever seen. That's about where the positives end for me. The biggest sticking point for most people with this game is the bugs and the performance issues and I can't lie, it's very disappointing. But even when you have a stroke of good luck with the game it's not what it was meant out to be. If you can scratch beneath the thick layer of bugs, jank and performance issues you'll start to realise that the game isn't all that special at all. It's just another generic open world game with 'choices' that don't seem to amount to much. The driving is serviceable, the combat is nothing to write home about, the customisation is pretty barebones, the AI is non-existent, choices don't make a difference, the story itself is fairly lacklustre and the RPG elements aren't as deep as you would think otherwise. The saying "wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle" comes to mind. As I'm writing this now, I would probably even consider it a subpar "open world action game" as they are now coining it. The amount of content that was cut from this game is astounding, just look for yourself. I would argue it's not even the same game that was shown to us a few years back. And I understand, sometimes things gets cut for design decisions or something turns out it's actually a useless feature but with the amount of things cut here and all the other issues with this game it's evident they cut corners. Also, a radio host in game says something eluding to Johnny Silverhand dying last year. That means he died in 2076. In game though, Johnny died 2023... This game must have changed course to accommodate Keanu Reeves. Why CDPR?! This is another hyped up game that promised so much and failed to deliver due to time constraints and executive decisions. Shame on you, you know who you are. I feel for the devs who worked tirelessly on this. 2/5
