FTL: Advanced Edition

core gameplay is good RNG is frustrating

not because it exists, but because it's goals aren't to provide you with an interesting and unique experience from playthrough to playthrough. it's actual goals appear to only allow you past certain hurdles every so often to elict the maximum amount of in-game hours. I beat it on my third play though. sometimes I don't even make it past sector 1. i begin to organize in a thoughtful way and the game throws solar stages at me like crazy. I had both stores on a sector be accessable from my jump-in beacon. twice in a row. in sector 1 and 2 when you are making you biggest commitments. i experienced all this is so few gameplays that I knew after just 14 hours I was done. 100% over it. the game has real appeal. but it's a crap game that treats it's players like babies.

Daikatana

setting the bar for duke nukem forever

game sucks, but that doesn't mean it should go away. play it, know it, enjoy it for the history of the industry.. but don't go thinking it'll change your life for the better. daikatana is in a legendary game for all the wrong reasons. if you did yourself a favor and didn't buy it the day it came out the moment Babbage's opened, do yourself another favor and part with a few bucks to add it's great badness to your collection.

Guilty Gear Isuka

A strange GG title

The Guilty Gear game line up has had some strange releases, not all of them great. This one isn't considered good by many of the people who enjoyed and got good at the true red blooded fighters and understandably why, but that doesn't mean it's bad. If you love GGXX, GG#R, GG Slash, or GGAC, you won't like isuka. It's just too different. If you love fighting games, you probably owe it to yourself to skip isuka. However if you never played GG and this is your first experience I would recommend isuka just as easily as Accent Core. Why? Because I don't know exactly what you will like. And if you like isuka, chances are you'll like reload or slash or accent core. If you don't start with isuka, best just to skip it. But it's not a bad game all on it's own. It's just the GG players are picky. They have razor sharp fighting skills and screwing with the format means screwing with their skills and that's frustrating. But that's us. You're you. if you want a deep and different fighter with a half cool beat-em-up as a nice topping, give isuka a try. It's 6 bucks, don't be scared! I bought it!

Easy to start, eons to master

Combos link in a way satisfying to beginners, but the game holds so much depth, the expert will find it every bit the rival of a Capcom build. A well matured fighting game that keeps just the right amount of glitz to be enjoyable, but truly truly truly focused on mechanics. If you actually know/love fighting games and need to retreat the ho-hum of a certain Capcom title, but need more depth than a certain Midway title, GG is the best thing you can get on PC. I've been playing it for half a decade now and I'm buying it yet again on GOG. MASTERFUL CHOICE, GOG!
