Despair: Blood Curse

Decent survival horror with some flaws

I mostly had a good time with Despair: Blood Curse. Game looks pretty good graphic wise (especially for a Unity game) but the animations are a bit janky in comparison. Gameplay wise, gun combat is fine. No complaints there. Melee is pretty janky, once again not really helped by the animations, plus if you managed to get the first hit in, you basically stun lock the enemy to death making it a bit OP. Enemies are mostly fine. I recognize quite a few of them from the asset store but they mesh together fairly well. My only complaint is the lack of real interesting combat with bosses since it all boils down to damage sponges. Environment wise, the mansion area is great. Other areas not as much but still mostly fine. Only one boss area I found very uninspired. Game is also rather short (I played on hard too) with not a whole lot of reason to play again aside from a new unlocked weapon. Would like to see a sequel to this that addresses and improves on the flaws of this one.
