Both Oddysee and Exoddus are what I would call lightning in a bottle games. The talented team that created these two games had so much passion for them and it shows. The level design, art direction and sound design are all fantastic and thouroughly immersive. I love all the handcrafted detail put into this game too, it really makes Oddworld come alive and feel like a real place. Rain World is the only game I have seen that resembles anything like the first two Oddworld games, they're very unique and I'm glad they exist. Timeless classics.
This game is no doubt a little rough around the edges and perhaps a little over ambitious on Team Silent's part, but with that ambition comes some fantastic ideas and a very unique experience. I have never played a horror game like this one. It's not the masterpiece that Silent Hill 2 is but for me, it's certainly up there with SH1 and SH3. And to the people who say Henry has no personality, well... he's not really supposed to. He's an introverted blank slate of a character and the literal receiver of the story and a metaphor of the player, shut in his room etc. You are Henry essentially as opposed to all of the other games where you're playing as someone else.
Playing this game after the reboot trilogy is a breath of fresh air and it reminds me of what Tomb Raider used to be about. The atmosphere, the sense of isolation and figuring out well crafted puzzles are all here and it's a joy to play. The story they added is B movie action nonsense but it's amusing enough and doesn't really take itself too seriously. You shouldn't really be playing Tomb Raider for the story though lol.
The voice acting, script and art direction for this game are phenomanal, thjey really draw you into the world. The world that the writers have created here is something really different in the vampire genre. The gameplay has not aged that well though. it's okay but nothing special, so I have to knock of a star for that. I remember loving the gameplay when it first came out but yeah, the combat is a little bland by today's standards.
