I'd still recommend picking this up for cheap and playing the trilogy in order, to see how far the developers came in just three games. If you're pushed for time, starting off at Dragonfall is fine as they're only very loosely connected. The back of the box review of this game is that they're pretty good RPGs with a better than good story packaged in something you can beat in under 20 hours. That ticks a lot of boxes that a more heavily developed game like Pillars of Eternity would struggle to match.
