I have a feeling that this game will be on “Games of the Year” lists. I don’t usually play roguelite games, but I like fun little management games. Cult of the Lamb (COTL) is super addictive and easy to play. There are a few difficulty modes, so everyone can play. I need to talk about the release: Initially, the release on GOG was a bit disastrous, because it took developers longer than a lot of people wanted (including myself) to bring bug fixing patches on GOG. Those patches were published on Steam, but not on GOG. After many failures and too many hours, as of right now, the game is identical to the Steam “version.” Version 1.0.12 got approved on GOG only a few hours after Steam. Now that the controversy is covered, I want to repeat how addictive the game is. Some people compare Cult of the Lamb to other games like Binding of Isaac or Don’t Starve, but I never played those games. If you are a newcomer like me, and you liked what you’ve learned about the game so far, CotL might be just for you! :) If you are a big fan of roguelite OR management games, then I suggest you watch livestreams. I’m not sure comparing this game to traditional roguelite or town-building games is fair, because a lot of effort went into music, visual, and the artistic direction as a whole… Seriously, this game is really beautiful. It feels like a playable Saturday morning cartoon (but it’s NOT for kids). Performance-wise, I run the game on an Intel i5-6600 with 32 GB of RAM and a GTX 970 graphics card (3.5 GB of VRAM). I use the highest settings, with V-Sync at 60 Hz. I don’t feel like there are disrupting low performances… Some parts of the game have these annoying micro-stutters that comes with SOME Unity games, but I don’t really think about that while playing. So… Don’t be spooked by some negative reviews. I asked GOG to delete my initial harsh one-star review so I could write this one instead. People were (some might still be) angry, for good reasons, but I’m enjoying now.

I'm so happy to now have a DRM-Free version of the game. I launched it yesterday on PC. My PC has an old GTX 970 GPU and an equally old Intel i5-6600 CPU, and I can run the game exactly like it runs on PS4 Pro. Knowing the game will now follow me as I upgrade my PC is why I love PC gaming. Uh... About the game: Well, I obviously loved it since I give 5 out of 5. 😀 I mostly played for the story and I'm happy to report that it's a very accessible game for beginners (I don't know about traditional "Accessibility" though...) The story is great, the visual are great... Even at full price, it's a good value!

Don't buy the Deluxe Edition. The audiobook, it's broken. The mixing is bad. Half of the voice lines are truncated. Developers are supposedly fixing this. (https://steamcommunity.com/app/803050/discussions/1/3110270484075749009/#c3111397019620271888)
