I'm 16 hrs in the game now and all the little annoyances are becoming a bit too grating. Really thinking about uninstalling, which is sad cause there were plently of moments where I had fun and that's what makes me want to continue. A bunch of the enemeis and bosses really need to be rebalanced and the abilites and upgrades feel like they do nothing Needed to buy a compass doesn't add anything to gameplay, but okay fine. However needed to have it equiped and only having one slot for badges makes no sense as it just locks you into using it over other badges So much of the game feels like it was designed to waste your time and test your patience rather than your skill. I want to explore but I feel like everytime I do, I run into something that comletely sucks the fun out of it. This game could be excellent, but as of right now it has too many flaws that hinder the experience
I just can't stay away. I have sunk so much time into this game (705hrs at the time of this review) and I have enjoyed every moment. From the world, to the characters, gameplay, music, story, atmosphere, scratches the right itch for me. And while I am biased I do think this game is worth your time
I've played over 140 hrs and have really enjoyed my experience. There is a lot to love like the story, characters, score, Night City, main and side quest design. Even the combat while not the best is still fun and satisfying and has a good amount of options for character builds. Now comes the stuff that leaves a lot to be desired. I'm not going to bother getting into the awful AI and bugs, there are tons of problems there, we all know what they are. Because beyond bugs there lie far worse issues. This game was sold as an RPG but it is really more of an action game. There is a massive lack of meaningful player choice, the majority of dialogue options don't change anything and the life paths amount to little more than flavor. While I like V as a character the problem is that they aren't a blank slate. V will always act like a street kid merc, nothing I say or do in game changes that, especially not the life paths. Even though Night City is truly breathtaking with its asthetic, architecture, verticality and atmosphere. It lacks the level of interactivity that one would come to expect from an ambitous open world like this that was marketed as being incredibly immersive. Outside of story missions, you can't sit on any bench or chair you see, eating and drinking is limited to just clicking an item in your inventory, you can't gamble or play arcade games on the many machines you will see throughout the world. Robbing merchants and npc's is none exsistant. I was really hoping that there would be some mini game akin to to Gwent in TW3 or gambling in Fallout NV. Overall I do think that there is a great game in the unifinished buggy product that was delivered, and even though I had a blast playing it I would reccomend playing it in six months to a year. I don't expect all its problems to be gone by then, but I'm hoping that a good amount of the issues will be fixed.
