And here I thought Sands of Time was a hassle to play, but geez, this one really takes the cake. Numerous new bugs introduced in this port that did not exist in Sands of Time, and for some reason the sticks are inverted when looking around. Equally shitty controller support in other words, but with some really random bugs that I can't wrap my head around. And in the couple of hours I played, I came across 2 game breaking bugs that kept popping up. Maybe I could've ignored this and pressed on if the game was at least fun, but it is not. Whatever charm Sands of Time had, this completely lacks. I'll be moving on to the next one, hoping for a better experience.
Game runs on Windows 11, but needs a bit of tweaking to work properly - i.e. you need to edit an .ini file to fix the broken shadow effect, and you need to run the game through Steam to get proper controller support with mappable buttons and sticks. Other than that, yes, works fine. Maximum resolution is 1600x1200, no widescreen support, recommend using v-sync or else your GPU is gonna be spitting out thousands of frames per second.
So, no reason for me to skirt around the elephant in the room. The one star out of five rating. This Gwent is not the Gwent I spent too much of my free time playing. Frankly, this iteration is a hollow shell of what once was. I'm not sure why they trashed Gwent and replaced it with... this. But I am not impressed. Big boo. :)
