Gloomwood Demo

Atmospheric Indie Immersive Sim

While it wasn't entirely clear to me what I was supposed to do in this demo, the actual gameplay is solid. The creators understand atmosphere over graphical fidelity, and boy, is Gloomwood Gloomy. I recommend you play on a higher difficulty, as the easiest two difficulties allow you to simply shoot everything with the shotgun. It's more fun if you have to be stealthly. Definitely has potential, and I will be watching this one.

Apotheon

A must have for fans of Greek mythology

Apotheon is set in ancient Greece and draws heavily from its mythology. If you are even remotely interested in this setting, this will be the game for you. It references heavily to the ancient gods and their function in the lives of the ancient Greeks. The art style is also a plus. While sometimes it makes navigation a bit difficult, it truly draws you into the world of Apotheon and is very pretty. Combat may take some time to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, the system is very fluid and satisfying, with knockbacks when dealing or being dealt damage and some light gore. You can dodge attacks and throw your weapon, which makes combat feel very visceral and fast. While the game is certainly playable, you might notice frame dips in some areas. Overall, the game is very good and kept surprising me with cool references to Greek mythology. In this regard, it is the first game since Titan Quest to have me really appreciate the effort put into the lore. A must have, especially when on sale.
