I have gotten more fun out of this game than a lot of others. I am on my second play through and it is a very fun game. Throw Phantom Liberty in the mix and it makes a great game even better. I never had any of the issues early on that people liked to show on YouTube. It has always been very smooth for me.
No surppise but I think that Larian has done a great job on Baldur's Gate 3. The charaters are well written and have a great backstories. The game mechanics are different from tabletop DND, but if just put that aside you can have a great time exploring the world that Larian has created. If you are thinking about buying Baldur's Gate 3 just go ahead buy it. You will not regret it.
