Cyberpunk 2077

Incredible game, rough around the edges

I have 27 hours in this game now and can say I'm having a really great time. The world building, the city, the graphics, storyline, quickhacks, netrunning and braindance editing mechanics are just amazing. But then of course, there are the notorious bugs and glitches, which unfortunately I'm encountering more often now, as I have played longer. For the first 20 hours maybe, bugs were very minimal. Since, I have noticed things such as missing objects, unresponsive enemies, T-poses, teleportations, missing dialog etc. This of course, is to be expected on a game of this complexity, but the level of incidence is a little too high for comfort. It's important to note, that it's not game breaking, just occasionally immersion breaking. In terms of gameplay CP2077 is a blast. There are some things that bug me though: The sheer volume of side missions. You don't stumble on to quests, they find you and it will make you think your phone number was hacked and published because there are people calling you left, right and center. As a result you'll have a list of something like 20 side-missions mere hours into the game. You'll be quickly overwhelmed, as the main quest also creates a sense of urgency, which is incongruent with the amount of side material. It would have been much better if the characters that send you on side quests were introduced along the way during the main quest. Way too much going on on the map 100s of incidents, enemies, side gigs, question marks etc etc. And it's all marked on the map right from the start of the game. With this volume of content it may have been enough to just let people explore blindly on their own. That all that being said, this game is above and beyond. It's not mind-blowingly different in terms of gameplay or genre, rather it's crowning blend of RPG, shooter and GTA-style genres. Once the kinks are ironed out and gameplay is steamlined this may be a truly legendary title for years to come.
