Paradise Killer

A weird but fun game

I had a lot of fun playing this game. The story is very weird; demons, gods, blood rituals, slaves, and so on. But if you can overlook the weird stuff, it is an interesting dective story game. I pretty much did all things in this game and I clocked my first playthrough at 17 hours. The music is excelent!

Shadows of Doubt

A gem has landed on GOG

I have wanted this game sicne it showed up on my radar around a year ago. But I don't have Steam, so I waited. I was very happy to see this game release on GOG and bought it at once. I have only played 5 hours and just finished my first murder case. It is a great gem of a game! You are free to invest as much or as little time on every case as you like. You can go deep, deep down the rabbit hole and also even capture the murderer your self. Or you can play safe, find some of the clues, avoid a confrontation with the murderer and hand in a report at get part of the reward. I like this freedom. You really feel like a PI, you decide your self what to do and what cases to take. There are other cases then just murder cases, but I have not tried these yet. Something that's scary but also good about this game, unlike other games, is the world. You play in a small town with about 300 people and they all live their own life, working, sleeping, eating. They have different things to say. It's strange to be in a game that feel this alive, like a tase of AI. It's scary because you never find a person where you left them. It's a new sensation not to be in control of the game world. You just have to accept that things change.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

A mixed bag

Wolfenstein Old blood and New Order was easy going shooting fun. With this installment they add some drama. Do I really what to know about William J. Blazkowicz traumatic childhood, his thoughts about becoming a dad, and so on and on.... no. But there is also pretty fun diolog and I think the characters Set Roth and Sigrun Engel is a fun addition. This game is a mixed bag.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

short but entertaining

I got this game in a bundle for cheap. That's a good thing, because I did not stress through this game and the solo mission only lasted 5 hours. But I had a lot of fun and the story was ok. I only give it 4 stars because the solo mission was so short.

Way of the Hunter

Hunt from the comfort of your own home

This is my go to relax game. There is no need at all to speed thing through. Take time to find the best hunting spot. Take time waiting for the animals. Take time to choose the animal you want to kill. And take time to take the perfect shot. I know you also can paly as a speed freak - but that's not for me. Very beautiful game also and the sound FX are very natural and well done.

No Man's Sky

A buffet of small fun activities

No Man’s Sky is a game made for people who love to grind for resources. You grind for minerals, for technology, for upgrades, for language knowledge and on and on it goes. I love it. I did mod the mining part of the game to speed up the process a little bit and reward me with a little more resources. But other then this tweak I really love all the stuff this game has to offer out of the box. Only negative: So one small part of NMS is to mine asteroids, a relaxing and fun activity. But, other races also mine minerals and they ALWAYS GET IN YOUR WAY – the game is programmed this way! They are programmed to fly into your line of fire. First I tried to avoided hitting them with my canon but after a while I was like “if they fly in to my line of fire I will not care”. Now this of course caused them to get hurt, they started to attack me and I blow them up. This is really bad for your diplomatic ties to other races and will lower it and give you a reputation as a terrorist. Now it is well worth it just to be able to mine asteroids. But I don’t like how they programmed this part of the game.

Blacksad: Under the Skin

A pleasant surprice!

Reviews on the net is all over when it came to this game but I gave this game a go and I loved the entire experience from the game starting to the the credit rolling. It's like a 10 hour interactive action/adventure movie about animals in post-WWII New York. You play as PI Blacksad, voiced by amazing Barry Johnson. The voice is great and could only be surpassed by Morgan Freeman - but who can afford him, right? I mention this because you will hear his voice all the time throughout the game. The voice acting over all is great. One reviewer complained that the animals facial expressions wasn't very human... but, they are animals! I honestly think it's a good thing that the animals in this game don't look more human then they already do.... Some scenes are brutally violent and I don't think I could have finished this game if it was humans being killed. But now it's animals - I can overcome that! By the way, the lip-sync is good. Graphic is good, not to crazy extravagant but enjoyable. Music is the same pleasant jazz song playing almost non stop for 10 hours. You only notice it when it stops playing for a couple of scenes. Story is good. If keeps your interest through the entire game. BUT, a big BUT, the game developers really messed up when they spoiled the plot early in the game. I do not need to mention it. If you are a good observer you will notice it and the end of the game will not come as a big surprise. If anyone is asking: this is NOT - NOT - a child friendly game. Sexual images (a image of a rhino having sex with a, cat, I think), profane and blaspheming language, alcohol consumption, non stop smoking in a promoting way. Even with the bad stuff I do think there is a decent moral in the game. In the end the game asked me if I would have done anything differently and I was like "No, I'm pretty OK with all my decisions (including getting a pedophile killed)"

Broken Sword 5 - the Serpent's Curse

Hidden agenda!

I have NOT played this game. The reason I still write this review it is because employee Catherine at Revolution Games have explained to me in an email that Broken Sword 5 "...explores Gnostic history, and the balance between the gods of the physical and the spiritual - and questions the demonisation of Lucifer in the orthodox Christian church.” NON of this is told in the description of the game here on gog.com! I think people should know before purchase that this game have the agenda to question the the demonisation of “Lucifer”. And with Lucifer they mean no other then Satan. Some people may be fine with this, but as a Christian i found it rater unpleasant to play a game that has this agenda.

A Bird Story

Short game that leaves emotional imprint

I loved this story-game. I do feel I become a part of an already outlined story – and therefore just have to follow along the ride - but I am glad I could be a part of that story because it is beautiful. The game is very short and the ordinary price is more then I think it should be, but I bought it under the fall sale for 1/4 of the price, which I feel is right compered to the length of the game. The game is very well made and emotional. It has no text so you just have to react to what you see and hear – the music is great and there are a lot of sound effects - and come to conclusions. I will play this game again soon.
