To be fair, the graphics are cool. The story is cool. I really enjoy the game. Sort of. The speed of your character is just too slow. I'm getting cramps holding down the shift key and hoping it will make me run. It sort of makes you go about 5% faster. This is maddening. I am about 4 chapters in and I'm going to finish for the art. But I can't recomend this at full price. I got this as a givaway on Amazon Prime Games. I'm very sorry to say that even though the atmosphere is cool. The best part about this game seems to be it's short length. You can knock this out in an afternoon or two.
Sadly I don't find this as fun or as engaging as many of the brick breaker games I've played. And I've played a lot of them. The art and stlye are minimalistic. Somehow this totally left me longing for more. z I felt myself longing for a game that came out in 2004 called "the bricks of Egypt" that had (obviously) an Egyptian theme. And at least in my memory it was sort of awesome. Nearly twenty years later and I feel like this is a big step back. Not worth it even on sale in my opinion.
I for one enjoyed this new chapter. It is somewhat different than previous Zachgames I've played (I've played them all). I really liked the atmosphere of this game and took me back to the 90s when All you could do was play another round of solitaire while you waited for the game you wanted to download. This may not be for everyone but checked a lot of boxes in my column (I'm 44). One quibble I had was that on the steam version (Here is where I curse their name and spit) there are achievements whereas here there are none. Oh well, I wish there were here too, but I'll just do all the things without the meaningless automatic fulfillment that somehow gives us an endorphin boost.
This game is in the same league as Banished, Frostpunk, and (to go deep into its dna) Dwarf Fortress. I personally like the game a lot. I like the different setting and mechanics introduced. In addition to the usual problems with weather, raiders, food, and production lines; you now have to worry about radiation. I haven't gotten any of the DLC yet but they look promising. Once I've played through what the base game offers I totally plan on picking up the DLC and giving that a spin also. I am a fan of these types of games. If you didn't like Banished or Frostpunk or any of the city management games, then you probably wouldn't like this one either. YMMV. If you are unsure, I say, go for it. I hope you enjoy this game as much as I do.
