Quake 4

Great finale

Great (sort of) final version of this classic. Action packed, a bit console-y linear but good fun. Amazing that thay managed to get all these graphics in 6 GB. A wothy and of the one that started it all, with 3D enemies, when hardware could just barely support that.

DOOM 3

A dark corridor

I started playing the original Doom 3 version of this game, that I headbought quite some some ago. I soon got frustrated by ammo shortage and the dark area's. When you hold your flashlight in complete darkness, your cannot hold any weapon. So the flashlight is not optional. . Luckyly there was this new BFG edition, with better full-HD graphics, and you can hold your flashlight *and* a weapon, and the enemies are somewhat easier to kill, so you don't run out of ammo constantly. (Yes, I know the ammo shortage is intentional, so you have to use the shotgun more, but that gets very tedious quickly against strong enemies). . The game itself is now more enjoyable, but the fact still remains that it is still a long corridor with very lineair gameplay. Not at all what we are used to in the Doom series, with large open spaces you can jump around in. And the mechanic that new enemies almost always also appear *behind*, you gets a bit too predictable. . Ah well, I finished it, in 15 hour. It's still Doom, ya know. :-)
