This game is an absolute gem. I played it for free back when it first dropped thanks to game pass, and decided to give it a shot on PC figuring it might feel better playing it with a mouse and keyboard. After now completing the main storyline, I can confidently say it is one of my top games of all time. Like Windwaker/Breath of the Wild meets Moana and Raft. Nothing beats finally building the ideal trimaran and just flying through the crossing levels. The controls are tight, the gameplay is simple but engaging, and the entire experience of island hopping and resource gathering/management is also simple but satisfying. Love the simple but diverse food options, but kinda wish there was a poison mushroom among all those fungus. Otherwise, the entire game is the perfect little microcosm. 11/10 Well done!
To think a 20 year old game could be more engaging than a recent release speaks to the quality of not only today's games, but those of yesteryear. There's a reason the phrase "they don't make 'em like that anymore" exists. This is one such game, though not amazing in the graphics department even in it's own time, it is a marvelous adventure title and sells the experience of being a professional dungeon crawler. The game is super easy to pick up and play, takes up very little disc space, and runs very nicely for a PC port of what was a special release game. 10/10 for scratching the itch to play a good classic RPG.
