This being the original Resident Evil from nearly 30 years ago, I was wondering how well it'd play. And the answer is: pretty well! It's fairly bare-bones for a Resident Evil game (as one would think), but it's still a blast to play in 2025. And it's quick! I beat a Chris playthrough in just over 5 hours, so the game certainly doesn't overstay its welcome. Now I do need to note that RE 1996 is campy as can be, and the dialogue is straight-up horrible, but I see that as part of the game's charm. If someone is even remotely interested in this game, I strongly recommend they give it a shot.
