Quake

The Grandad of Shooters

I haven't played this since the 90s and wasn't expecting much when I picked it up for £2.39 in the sale. The graphics were way worse than I remember but it brings back so may memories. Graphics aaren't the whole game though right? I still think it has a rustic charm to it and the dark atmosphere is something that games have tried to immitate ever since (and most fail). The gameplay still has it though (once you get used to it). It is hard by the standards of modern games but don't let that put you off because it is fair. Once you die just get back up and try again. Superb level design tops it off too. The only drawback; no music. WTF? Must been a royalties/licencing thing and it does make the experience less enjoyable. Overall though it is worth picking up on sale and re-living the good ol' days.

GWENT: The Witcher Card Game

Amazing

The best digital card game there is, in my opinion. IT is free, which to be fair most of these games are now but Gwent really shines because it isn't aggressively monetised at all. I haven't spent a penny on the game but am still able to individually craft the cards I require using scraps. I have supported CDPR by purchasing Thronebreaker (GOG) and Witcher 3 (Steam) but will now solely buy all my games through GOG. They are the best games developer there is right now. Long may that continue. Gwent is easy to learn, difficult to master and a whole lot of fun. Thank you CDPR.
