Brilliant game, very well-written and replayable. The story, the characters and +18 content are all fine here
Finally, after finishing this game in 21hr 37m I'm ready to write about it. Brilliant game, story-wise it looks like a much-expanded adaptation of Edgar Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher", Barker is a talented writer and he did his job well - the game is very interesting, atmospheric and makes you play on to find out what happens next. Gameplay is similar to any shooter of the early 2000s - 90% of it is going backwards and shooting at the same time. The bosses (esp. the final one) are very difficult. Fav in-game places: Monastery - past (it's a very beautiful and eerie lvl) and ZIGGURAT!!!! any game that has a Ziggurat in it deserves 5 stars right away. Play it if you love horror
In MK1 and MK2 you can set up the keys on your controller and play if you follow instructions on gog support page, but in UMK3 the character keeps jumping backwards all the time, keys don't respond to what you push and it seems like someone else is pushing the buttons simultaneously when you're doing it. I bought this release mainly for UMK3 so I give 2 stars because of that
Great game, one of the best of all time and definitely the best fighting game of all time. I had it on Sega and then on PS1, have spend countless nights playing it. Unlike UMK3 on gog this is well optimized, button configuration is as it should be, you just plug any joystick in and play P.S. I'll adress gog staff here in hope someone reads it - it is impossible to set up controls in UMK3 that you sell here together with MK1 and MK2 in a separate release, the character keeps jumping backwards all the time. UMK3 is a legendary version of MK, technically it's the same as MK trilogy, but music and sound effects in UMK3 are better, so please repair the release and make it work somehow, release it separately if you want, money is not the problem, just fix it so that it works just like MK trilogy here. Please
This is the most difficult game I've ever played, I needed 54 hr overall, when in comparison for Rayman Origins I needed half that time. From outside it's a beautiful, cartoony game, I would never have imagined it would be this difficult. I only recommend this game to people with nerves of steel, otherwise don't start it - try newer ones, like Origins, Legends etc. Origins is pleasant and fun to play too, this one is just torment and endless retries. Technically the game is solid, everything runs fine, no bugs, no ping, nothing. EDIT 9.19.2025 I was very angry when I wrote my original review, it is truly the hardest game I've ever played, but I now edit it and give it 5 stars, instead of the original 3 :D in a way this is the best game ever, I can't even say what is specifically so attractive in it, but it is. Play it!
This is the most pleasant and comfortable strategy game I've ever played (I don't mean easy, no, and it gets more and more difficult as you progress). Tutorial is short and informative, you won't need to watch 3 hr youtube video to get to know the basics of the game, all is explained very well. The thing I like the most in Aven Colony is that you have all the time you need to build your own settlement, it's not a fighting-first strategy, where you need to fend off endless hordes of enemy and plan & build in between. Main challenge here is to plan everything very well in advance. Soundtracks are beautiful, it fits the game very well. 10/10 game, highly recommended
