Game is great, loved it since before the Next update. But, unfortunately Hello Games frequently treats GOG customers as second class citizens, with delayed updates and missing builds for the macOS version. I do not recommend to buy the game here.
This game was incredible, short and sweet! I thought the concept would become stale very fast, but every time things start to get repetitive the game adds a new mechanic (all of them are great and help keeping the gameplay fresh, but that last one is something on another level, I was MINDBLOWN) The only thing that I found strange was that the (pretty great) soundtrack would sometimes disappear, leaving the game almost completely silent. An ambient loop during the puzzles would be nice.
I didn't expect to like this game as much as I did! Apart from some systems feeling a little clumsy (climbing is kinda infuriating in some moments), Rime does everything extremely well. The visuals and soundtrack are amazing and despite being light on mechanics, I never felt bored while playing. The narrative is surprisingly good too, which is a great feat considering everything is told without a single word. If you are into games like Journey and Gris, I think you'll like this one.
The only things that I enjoyed in this game were the character/world design and voice acting. The story was weak and all the dialogue felt extremely forced. EVERY SINGLE DIALOGUE had to end with a joke (and most of them didn't really work for me) I also had a problem with the save file. I almost had to restart the game from the beginning because it randomly changed the saving location and stopped recognizing the default path.
This game is great. The visual style is beautiful and very unique, the controls feels perfect and the way the soundtrack adapts to your gameplay is insanely good. Some of the longer/lategame levels can be frustrating because of the procedural generation, putting the player in some unfair scenarios, but the majority of levels feel fair and well balanced. The introduction of new enemy types keeps the gameplay fresh until the very end It's a great game, I loved it
As a fan of the first Superhot, I really tried to like MCD but man... it's not great. IMO, the procedural bits (the main new thing) destroyed what made Superhot awesome. The structure of the game consists in advancing in a path (imagine something like a Mario overworld map). You play the levels in "blocks", where the scenarios/enemy spawn positions/items are randomized, resetting every time you die without beating every level of the block. There aren't a lot of scenarios and, because of the procedural nature, levels never feel planned like they felt in the original game. When you progress, the blocks increase in length and complexity and you are constantly encouraged to play safe, because of the random enemy spawns and punishment for losing. There are some cool new things: The hacks introduce cool modifiers to the gameplay and the katana recovery skill is awesome, but they aren't able to keep the game from getting repetitive and overcomplicated in the later levels. The story keeps telling you "HERE, MORE SUPERHOT!!! ISN'T THAT WHAT YOU WANT YOU PIECE OF ****?" but after 5 hours of doing basically the same thing over and over, without any of the great levels/setpieces of the first game, I've had enough.
One of the most creative games I've played. The very well designed puzzles force you to combine the introduced abilities/mechanics in awesome ways. The only thing I didn't enjoyed much was the combat boss fights, but that is only a tiny section of the game. If you like puzzle/exploration games, go for it
