Good map design and variety of events

================= Pros: ================= ----------------- Overall look and feel ----------------- - Good visuals - Music is good - Voice acting is alright ----------------- Gameplay ----------------- - New enemy type every single day - Every character has unique abilities and weapons - Therefore they all have their own strengths and weaknesses - Enemy turn can be fast forwarded to decrease idle time - Map design is pretty good - Constant weapon and ability progression - Combat is kept fresh due to extra obstacles that are added to the arena after a threshold mid battle. Occasionally they have a time limit and require sound decisions whether you want to sacrifice HP or use items to reach the goal - Hidden objects and easy puzzles in between arenas are a welcome change in pace - Hit percentages for every enemy are shown for your target location ----------------- Story and world building ----------------- - Well the society seems to be f'ed up in which human lives don't matter much. I guess it ain't that different from our world, it may just be displayed more visceral - Story is barely there but enough of a vehicle ================= Cons: ================= ----------------- Gameplay ----------------- - On hard the game is a bit too easy, especially when you hit every single optional arena and are loaded on equipment ----------------- Bugs + missing QoL ----------------- - Hit percentage and which enemies are in line of sight from the target location sometimes are displayed wrong - While the game does show you which enemies are in line of sight from your target location there is no visualization of areas that are covered from there. This would be extremely useful whenever you plan on setting up an overwatch - Game slows down depending on the amount of save files you have. So save scummers are advised to delete a few files after every other session - No quick save/load option - No filter in the sell interface

Fantastic voice actors, terrible combat
TL;DR
This is a fairly mixed review. Fantastic voice actors that carry the entire game. Combat is poop and you should most likely play it on the easier difficulty, since the harder one doesn't provide any value.
Pros:

The voice actors are doing a fantastic job and are THE single best part of the game. There are so many nice little details in the conversations, the tone, little breaks, interruptions and pain that it feels like a genuine conversation almost the entire time.
Even the voice actor for the german news in the beginning of the game did a good job
Graphics are fine for the scope of the game
Little details and styles of the environment displayed pretty much accurate to some 80's furniture in Germany
The atmosphere is decent
Even the story setup is appealing
Music selection is very fitting

Cons:

Story ending leaves more to be desired and falls a bit flat
Performance could be better
Combat drags - the enemies don't appear to have weakpoints and are bullet sponges, which is a problem, because ...
Your ammo carry capacity is basically non existent. One spare mag per weapon ... that's it. You can easily run through all of your bullets by clearing the enemies of one area. Why is that the case? Well your shotgun is basically your only weapon that is able to protect you from enemies that run towards you
This feels especially bad since you find way more ammo in the world that you simply can't pick up, just to be completely empty after one big fight. The game would have been 10 times better by increasing or even uncapping the ammo capacity but make it actually rare to find ammo
My assumption: It is probably way less pain on the lower difficulty. Finding ammo is not an issue, which is why the harder difficulty only increases the strength (and most likely HP) of the enemies. The combat is easily the worst part of the game.
The Evil Within 2

mediocre

mediocre - The main character isn't that great. - Can't perform choices to change the ending or anything really - Story is meh - Gameplay loop is ok - Gunplay leaves a lot to be desired
