Baldur's Gate 3

Game I fantasized playing.

I am a old dog of the FR of AD&D and 2nd Ed. I didn't keep up with the TT RPG via v3-v5. I did hear about the changes from friends though. But because of the new rules and the diligent work put in by Larian this is a game world I fantasized that could be made when I was a kid. A completely organic D&D world. To the negatives. - it's not D&D/FR: It is. These are the new rules that stripped out all the crappy learning curves to play the TTRPG. No longer do GM's have to tell players, "No you can't because the rules say you can't." - They are stealing all my info with magic DRMs: No. Bottom right corner on the startup window is Skip login, click it. - Game is buggy: Uhmmm a little. A lot less than the normal released games of this size. - Main story arc/it's not BG: It reminds me a lot of ES: Oblivion. I didn't win the main story arc for YEARS. Was too busy screwing around with side quests and doing random "stuff." If your a power grinder who wants to go from beginning to end in a day, this game won't be your cup of tea. If your perfectly content just dicking around forgetting there is a main story arc... this is your game. I won BG 1&2 and those games are nothing like this one which is perfectly fine by me.

Cyberpunk 2077

Amazing accomplishment in sandbox games!

To the people whining about bugs. Name one sandbox game today that is bug free. Name one sandbox that was released with no bugs. There were a lot of bugs at release and there is still some bugs in it today. But all within the tolerable realm of what is acceptable in a sandbox. A lot of the complaints are really unfounded. First of all, this game is an absolute ground breaking achievement in gaming. The city is organic and alive. Their are NPC's everywhere and the city hussle and bussles with traffic. The scale of this sandbox is absolutely mindblowing. I've done two play throughs from beginning to end with my 2nd doing near 100% missions. I'm stilll discovering new parts to the city that i've never seen before. Not small features either. They could make a whole new game as DLC and just use places that weren't used for missions in the first one. BUT TRUE next gen games require next gen hardware. No, other sandbox games released around the time of Cyberpunk are not good benchmarks to Cyberpunk. This game put the bar into orbit of what we can expect a sandbox to be. The ray tracing is... well... breath taking. The scale and details is mind blowing. This is my favorite games that I keep playing even after I've won it. The only thing I wish was different is that it would group saves with character play throughs.

Succubus

Huh uh huh coooool!

I am having fun playing this game and I don't know why. It's like playing a old-school Heavy Metal comic as a game. Dialog and story can get cheesy, just like a Heavy Metal comic. But overall it's bad ass and visually appealling. Game is unapologetic about content and has all the knobs turned to 11. If you grew up on old Conan and Heavy Metal comics... get this game, NOW. Queue up some old Slayer and enjoy the all-you-can-eat raunchy feast.

Leisure Suit Larry - Wet Dreams Don't Dry

Not good, but not horrible either.

This is a mediocre entry in the LSL game list. They at least TRIED where two other titles in LSL didn't even bother. I know writing an adventure game is not easy. But they made a couple jokes of the absolute random weird things you have to do in adventure games, but than THEY keep doing it. Along with, throughout the story they constantly dump you off with little to no clue what your supposed to do next. And almost every quest is yet another grocery list. In a MMORPG you would call it lazy game design. Grocery getter missions in a adventure game is sub-par. I don't call going to the store an adventure. The humor is fair. Most of the content will mildly amuse, and there is as many chuckles as there is totally failed to deliver jokes. To summarize, this is the first LSL game that I have not finished. In order to finish it I would need to follow constantly a walk-through.. at which point why bother with the game and just read the walk-through. BUT i'm not feeling ripped off. I did get a few minutes of entertainment, but I would rather do something else than to finish this game.

SiN Gold

Seriously kick ass game!

This game could hold the interest of a W+M1 player and a dig into the story style player. Good story plot. Some incredible environments. Computers are interactive and you can actually use real hacking techniques to do all kinds of stuff. Like I transferred all of Elexis's money to my bank account. There is multiple endings and tons of branches which will put you into entire different maps based on what you do. Those who dig into everything don't end up confused by the ending. It's only a off the wall ending for the run and gun players.

Clive Barker's Undying

Awesome Horror Game

This game is a one of a kind master piece written by a master novelist. Like many adventure games written by novelist it doesn't have a decision tree plot. Although Clive Barker in a interview once said he wished the game could have been made in a sandbox that the player could just explore. The world is so organic with details and life that you get immersed and forget your in a old school collapsing tunnel game engine. Unlike other FPS this game does not throw hordes of weak enemies at you. The few enemies they throw at you are usually well timed and terrifying. Best way to think of this is Amnesia without your character being so helpless. If you don't have patience for adventure games and looking for thin plots that you can just make a dash for the finish line and not miss anything... THIS GAME IS NOT FOR YOU! This game rarely spells anything out for you and like Clive Barker books you really have to play it twice before you pick up on a lot of the smaller details. Foreshadowing and plot details are finely interwoven into the game environment. Very easy to miss if you get into a rush and you can end up confused on whats going on. Absolutely amazing with how much detail was packed in with so little tech they had to work with back when they made this game. Makes me wish someone would turn Clive Barker loose with a modern sandbox game engine.

Shadow Warrior Classic Complete

Awesome game

This is one of my favorite FPS. The humor and one liners are hilarious. Lo Wang is the man! Extremely fun game play. Puzzles in levels are never annoying. Tons of stuff in the environment you can interact with. A typically overlooked and forgotten classic.

Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition

Historical FPS Milestone

There is a lot of reviews from kids or people that just don't remember what the game tech was when Duke Nukem 3D came out. The Build engine was very revolutionary. The most noteworthy was the polymorphing 3D landscapes, the size of the levels and the size of animated/moving 3D objects within the game environment. There was a few comments on the bit maps. While the artists were very good ... dare I say better than ID's Doom 1&2 crew... the physical specs on the bit maps were the same. It's not the size of the bitmap...its how you use your pixel. ;-) Very fun and addictive multiplayer... me and my friends were playing co-op/dm's over Kali well into 2000's. What can you say... other than "Hail to the king baby!"
